Yoga literally means union but that is not its meaning. The meaning of yoga is ‘that which brings you to reality’ and we practice yoga to help us connect with our experiential reality so we understand how reality is made. This meditation was recorded live for students and contains ambient noises and sounds. Music by Kevin MacLeod

So good morning everyone,

Welcome to this meditation.

We can just start by coming into a comfortable upright position.

We can close our eyes.

Take one deep breath in through our nose.

On the out breath we're just going to relax into the out breath.

We do that again,

A nice big in breath through our nose.

On that out breath we're just going to relax fully into the out breath.

One more time,

A nice big in breath through our nose.

Relax fully into the out breath.

Just let go of any need to regulate your breathing.

Let go of any need to control your thoughts.

Just allow your body to relax.

Connect with this sense of self,

This sense of being,

This sense of being alive.

It might be an energetic feeling,

Slight tingling,

Sensation in your heart.

There's this deep sense of knowing that you're present,

That you're here.

And the core of all our suffering is the belief that we're the I-thought.

We are somebody,

In fact we're nobody.

I don't mean that in a way that we're not important to people,

That we don't have activities and roles and things that we need to do.

I don't mean that we're inconsequential to others,

We don't have an effect.

I just mean that there's no person here,

There's no identity.

Identity is something that we construct,

That we make,

We bring into existence through the I-thought.

I'm this,

I'm that.

And true freedom from suffering comes when we see that we're not the I-thought.

We liberate ourselves from our prison of thinking.

It's by identifying with our thoughts,

With this noun,

That we cage ourselves so we don't see that we're already standing in complete freedom.

We have limitless potential,

Limitless responsibility.

And that can sometimes feel overwhelming when we realise that we're completely limitless,

We're infinite,

We're unbounded and free.

We wonder what we're going to do with all this potential and responsibility that we have.

Still it's just thinking.

Our action is always limited.

We take the smallest action we can in the next moment.

There's something inside of us that yearns to be free,

That yearns to be boundless.

We recognise that's who we are.

We're already free,

We're already limitless and boundless and infinite.

We don't need to go searching for it in the outside world of things.

It's a simple recognition and knowing who we are.

We exist beyond the body and mind.

It's the formless presence,

The spirit.

It's just conscious awareness having an experience of itself.

Joining our So we can just rest in this space.

This openness,

This awareness.

Rest as conscious awareness.

It takes no effort to be here.

It's a simple letting go of this idea of who we are.

No longer identifying with the eye.

Seeing the eye is just an idea,

A thought.

In this space,

There's no you and there's no me.

There's just this experience happening.

Experience unfolding,

Never-ending.

You can just flow from one experience to the next.

You don't have to resist anything,

Struggle with anything.

Strive to be something in the next moment.

Just conscious awareness.

And our potential is limitless.

And our responsibility is limitless as well.

Let go of this I-thought.

You just fall into this space of no-thing.

This is where you see that being nobody is everything.

What we mean by that is that you are nobody.

You are not the body and you are not the mind.

You are the space in which it's all happening.

The container for your experience.

The container for your experience contains everything.

What arises out of you.

What motives you waiting for.

You you Space exists Beyond your thinking mind Beyond thought exists between the gaps between your thinking You just have to notice those gaps notice that space See that we're just awareness Just conscious awareness is aware of itself There's nobody home There's nobody that needs to do anything or become anything Needs to try to control the next moment or resist this moment This allows everything to be as it is you you you Just notice how silent it is in this space you How much peace there is here that peace is not out there in the world of things Being peaceful being calm being silent.

It's your birthright that experience is right here can't be found out there It's who you truly are space of peace and openness and acceptance Space of peace and openness and acceptance you you you you you In a moment we're going to bring this openness openness non-identification with the eye This feeling of space calmness and peace you back into the world of things And whenever you're ready take one deep breath in through your nose nice long out breath through your mouth Think open your eyes and come back to the room
