Welcome to your body image meditation.
With this meditation,
You will be inspired to become at peace with your body,
Accept it for what it looks like,
What it can do for you,
And further yourself on your journey to finding love for your body.
Start now sitting in a comfortable position on the floor or in a chair or lying down on your bed,
Whatever is most comfortable for you and where your body feels most supported.
Now take a slow,
Deep inhale into the bottom of your lungs to the count of five,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Hold for five,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Exhale slowly for ten,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight,
Nine,
Ten,
Letting out all the stale air in your lungs.
One more time,
Take a slow,
Deep inhale into the bottom of your lungs to the count of five,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Hold for five,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Exhale slowly for ten,
Two,
Three,
Four,
Five,
Six,
Seven,
Eight,
Nine,
Ten,
Letting all the stale air out of your lungs.
Feel all the points of your body where it is making contact with your chair,
Floor,
Or bed.
Your body is yours.
You will never have another one.
It is a vehicle for you to do things in your daily life.
Walk,
Climb stairs,
Carry groceries,
Hold your phone,
Dance,
Hug,
Cook food,
Play with your children and pets.
Even sitting up from a lying position requires core strength.
You would literally be able to do nothing that you like to do or you have to do in your day without your body.
So take a moment and think about something physical that you love to do in your life.
Is it hiking?
Playing with your children?
Taking walks?
Yoga?
Dancing?
Keep thinking about it and harness how it makes you feel when you're doing it.
Do you feel joy?
Do you feel sexy?
Do you feel free?
Do you feel exhilarated?
Do you feel a sense of calm?
Hold on to that feeling for the next minute as you breathe fresh air into your lungs,
Breathing that positive feeling in and letting it infuse your body.
And slowly breathing out the negative feeling you have toward your body.
You don't need that anymore.
Thank your body for giving you the ability to do that thing.
Take another breath and think it again if you're someone lucky enough to not have pain when you are doing the things you love.
We cannot hate our bodies into changing.
The reason we are in bodies we do not love is not because of the way our bodies look but because of our mindset about what our bodies should look like.
You wouldn't believe your body to be bad or wrong if society hadn't conditioned you to believe so.
So we need to work to unravel those harmful beliefs.
If we learn to respect and accept our bodies as they are,
An amazing thing happens.
They change for the better.
Our perception of them changes for the better.
We also begin to realize that we are more than our body.
Our body is simply a vehicle for us to do the things we love in life.
It is a rented vessel for our souls.
We are mothers,
Daughters,
Friends.
We make a difference in this world with our hard work,
Our thoughtfulness,
Our kindness,
Our love.
Think about one thing you contribute to this world,
Even if it is just being a good friend to someone who needs it.
How does it make you feel on the inside?
Whole?
Warm?
Loved?
Needed?
Hold on to that feeling for the next minute as you breathe fresh air into your lungs,
Breathing that positive feeling in and letting it infuse your body.
And slowly breathe out the negative feeling you have towards your body.
You don't need that anymore.
Now let's take a few minutes to repeat some affirmations as we inhale and exhale,
Giving life,
Giving oxygen to our bodies.
I am not my body.
I am not my body.
I am not my body.
My body is not the most interesting thing about me.
My body is not the most interesting thing about me.
My body is not the most interesting thing about me.
I have more to give to the world than how my body looks.
I have more to give to the world than how my body looks.
I have more to give to the world than how my body looks.
Start to wiggle your toes,
Finding feeling in your body again.
Let's take one last big deep breath in.
Hold and let it out.
Open your eyes and move on with your day with a renewed respect and appreciation for your benefit.
