Transcript
Breathing slowly,
Relaxing your body,
Letting go of any thoughts about your day or about things you have to do,
Letting go of any worries about the future,
Taking a deep breath in,
Filling your lungs to capacity,
Pause for a moment and then slowly let your breath out.
As you exhale,
Allowing any tension or tightness in your body to release and let your body soften.
And again taking another deep breath in,
Pause and then let it out.
Tension flows out of your body,
Leaving your joints and muscles open and relaxed.
If you find yourself tensing up at all during this exercise,
Come back and repeat this deep breath,
Sending peace throughout your body.
And now,
Letting your breath find its own natural rate and rhythm.
Coming into this visualization by seeing a beam of pure white light traveling down from above.
Knowing that this light is directly connected to the highest realms,
To the universe itself and that it's here to protect you and support you on your forgiveness journey.
Drawing this beam of light down towards you and feeling it surrounding your body,
Dancing around your aura,
Offering you a strong field of protection around you.
As you breathe in and out,
Gently inviting this white light into your body through the crown chakra at the top of your head.
Channeling this divine protective and supportive energy into you,
Slowly sending it throughout your entire body,
Allowing yourself to relax fully and open up to receive the healing that is about to come to you during this forgiveness journey.
Remembering that forgiveness is not about affirming that the other person's behavior towards you was right.
Forgiveness is about healing yourself.
Letting go of the pain,
The suffering and the internal battles that no longer serve you.
Forgiving others is about saying to yourself,
I am worthy of respect,
Kindness and love.
Forgiving others is about acknowledging that it is safe for you to make peace with your past,
No matter how difficult your journey has been up until now.
Forgiving others is to say to yourself,
I choose to be free from this suffering so that I may live my life without pain.
Flowing that white healing light throughout your body,
Connecting with your intention to be free from pain and to forgive the person who has left a negative impact on your life.
Taking a courageous breath,
Remembering that you are safe and ready to let go of your pain once and for all.
Now inviting in the person that you need to forgive,
Calling them to you on a soul level and asking them to stand before you.
You might see the image of their physical body or you may simply connect with their soul energy.
Whatever you see is right for you.
To begin,
Say the words,
I forgive you towards this person.
And just notice what happens in your mind and body.
If you notice some tension or resistance within you,
Go back to that deep breathing to help you relax once more.
On a scale of 1 to 10,
Choose a number that represents how uncomfortable you feel saying,
I forgive you to this person right now.
There's no right or wrong answer.
Just make an observation so that when you come back to this practice,
You can easily measure your progress.
Breathing deeply once again,
Now you have the opportunity to speak your truth.
Tell this person how you truly feel about everything that they have ever said and done to you.
Spending a minute here saying all that needs to be said.
Don't worry about whether or not the person would be willing to meet with you and listen to you in real life.
You're communicating soul to soul here.
Trust that your words will be heard and understood by this person on this deep soul level.
Thanking this soul for making space for you to express your truth and for hearing your words,
Acknowledging your struggles and honoring your pain.
And now it's time to give them an opportunity to respond to you.
There's no need to get attached to a perfect outcome here.
The person may defend themselves and try to blame you for their behavior.
Or they might take responsibility and apologize for what they have done.
Allow them to speak from the heart without being attached to the outcome.
If your person has taken on accountability for their actions,
Then you might already begin to feel an energetic shift within you.
If not,
Don't despair.
Forgiveness is a change that happens within you and no one else.
It is not a requirement of forgiveness that the other person changes their behavior.
Your job is to make peace with the person as they are.
As you look at this soul being before you,
Notice that the two of you are made up of the same parts.
Recognize that the two of you are on a spiritual path,
Whether you know it or not.
Notice that neither one of you is perfect,
That you both have your individual struggles and flaws.
Honoring the similarities between you and repeating these words in your mind,
I see that you have flaws.
Just as I see that I have flaws,
I see that you want more from life.
Just as I want more from life.
I honor your pain.
Just as I honor my own pain.
I accept you as you are.
And I am now ready to let go of my pain.
As I let go,
I forgive.
I forgive you for what you have done to me.
And I forgive myself for carrying this pain with me for so long.
I release anything that no longer serves me.
And I choose to let go so that I can move forward.
I choose to forgive you so that I may heal myself.
I release your energy from me so that it may no longer affect me.
I move forward with grace and confidence.
I thank you for your contribution to my life.
I thank you for teaching me to be strong.
I forgive all parts of you and let you go with love.
Spending a quiet moment integrating the changes that have taken place within you.
Now coming back to your breath,
Breathing softly and naturally.
Feeling grateful that you had the courage to face this person and offer them the gift of your forgiveness.
Knowing that you can now move forward without pain holding you back.
Remembering that forgiveness may not be instant,
That you might need to revisit this exercise to clear your pain fully.
And knowing that if you see this person again that you have surrendered your expectations of them.
You accept them how they are and you commit to being true to yourself in their presence.
Congratulating yourself on this achievement.
And coming back into your body now.
Making some slow gentle movements and opening your eyes.
Coming back into your world.

Thank you for this meditation! I am dealing with a friend and my sister, and struggling to forgive. The way that you set up this meditation helped me to understand that however, it goesβ¦ I am setting my heart free. My heart is already aching from the recent passing of my dadβ¦ But itβs all right now Iβm finding forgiveness really really hard. And your meditation also help me put into perspective perhaps dealing with my sister first needs to be my priority right now. Thank you.

Beautiful... It's nearly three months since my ex terminated our relationship in a very cruel and disrespectful way. I know my hurt and resentment is only hurting me, and I thank you for this lovely meditation that hit the spot perfectly! π

Thank you...the guidance and imagery you provided were extremely beautiful and helpful. If anyone feels they need extra time to share their experience with the person they are forgiving, I would suggest hitting βpauseβ and then resuming it; it worked perfectly for me. I have bookmarked this and will come back to it regularly. Thank you again! ππΌ
