Good morning!

Namaste!

Welcome to In the Flow with Lori Albert.

And it's a beautiful day.

I woke up on the right side of the world today,

I think.

So here's my question for you today.

When you look around your world,

Like the things and the people in your world,

What do you see?

What do you see when you look around?

So I was.

.

.

We were in my class with David Gee,

The course,

And this poem got brought up,

And I'll tell you why in a minute,

But this poem got brought up by an English poet from the 1700s named William Blake.

And the name of the poem is To See a World.

And here's the quote.

The quote is this,

To see a world in a grain of sand and a heaven in a wild flower.

Hold infinity in the palm of your hand and eternity in an hour.

And God,

That just made me want to weep.

Truly,

It just it made me want to weep because seriously,

When we look around,

What do we see?

When you look around at all the people around you,

The people in the store,

The clerks at the grocery store,

The homeless person,

Just everybody around you,

What do you see?

When you see the coyote walking down the street or the bunny rabbit,

What do you see?

It's kind of a hard thing to say,

Right?

You know,

Because you could say,

Well,

I see the bunny rabbit.

But the reality is,

What about if we saw God in every single thing?

You know,

Person,

Animal,

Thing.

What about if in your garden,

The flowers,

What about if you saw God in the flowers?

I just love that concept because,

You know,

When you think about it,

God is in everything.

We were talking about recently,

In my course with Devaji on the Upanishads,

We were talking about the states of consciousness.

And about the one state of consciousness,

Which is oneness.

So as we talk about this,

We're thinking that God is in everything.

God,

However you look at it,

You could be Catholic,

You could be Islam,

You could be Jewish,

You could be anything.

I'm talking about God,

Okay?

Because I don't want to distinguish a certain God kind of thing.

So just know that up front,

Right?

But what about if we saw God in everything?

What about if when we look at each other,

That's what we see today.

Walking down the street,

Driving down the street,

All the distracted drivers,

The drivers that are pissing you off.

What if we saw God in them?

Isn't that an amazing concept?

What would that create for you?

You personally,

If that's what you saw.

I don't know,

I feel like that the beauty of life would come through really strong.

It feels like the beauty of life would come through.

You know,

It's easy to see God in the flowers and in the animals,

Right?

Whether it's your pets or whether it's squirrels or even rats,

Right?

But what about if we saw God in everything?

The people that we don't particularly care for?

Because we're all just a creation.

The cockroaches and the ants.

What if we saw God in everything?

I remember this movie I saw not too long ago.

Well,

Actually I did say it was a long time ago,

But I re-saw it a few months ago.

What was it?

The one with Brad Pitt when he met the Dalai Lama.

I can't remember the name of it.

Seven something or other.

Seven years in Tibet.

My memory is still there.

And when they were building something and the monks were digging the holes and they found the worms.

And so they would dig up the worms.

Oh my god,

I'm getting emotional.

They would dig up the worms and they would move them very gently.

They would put them in their hands and move them because they see God in that.

God,

That's so beautiful.

So what we're going to do today,

We are going to meditate on this.

And I challenge you,

My friends,

To see God in everything today.

See God in your cup of coffee.

See God in the flower.

See God in the driver that cuts you off.

What a challenge that is.

Wow.

And at the end of the day,

When you lay your head on your pillow,

How do you feel versus if you hadn't done that?

Right?

So let's get ourselves comfortable because we're going to meditate.

All right then.

Let's take a nice deep breath in through your nose and release.

Isn't it amazing?

Just talking about that can raise our vibration to a place where we just feel this joy,

Right?

Even just talking about doing this.

Love that.

Let's take another nice really slow deep breath in through your nose into every cell in your body.

And release.

Beautiful.

So let's begin today by concentrating on our gratitude.

What are three things that you are absolutely grateful for today?

Could be anything from your family,

Of course.

Your house,

Your cars,

Of course.

To the deep stuff.

What are you grateful for?

You're grateful for the opportunity to sit in meditation every day.

And the peace that that affords us.

So today our mantra is Sanskrit.

And the mantra is aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

And guess what that means?

It means I am the universe.

Because if you see God in everything,

What happens when you look in the mirror?

Do you see God when you look in the mirror?

Aham brahmasmi.

And if you feel comfortable,

What would be beautiful is to put your hand one or two over your heart.

Because this is all about our heart chakra today.

And if you feel uncomfortable,

If you forget the mantra halfway through,

That's absolutely fine.

Just focus on your breathing and go back and focus on your heart chakra.

Aham brahmasmi.

I will keep the time.

Let's begin.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

Aham brahmasmi.

I am the universe.

Let's start bringing our awareness back to our bodies.

Let's take a nice long deep breath in through our nose.

I don't know about you but that brought tears.

When you feel comfortable you can open your eyes.

Beautiful.

So my challenge today is to see that grain of sand as God.

And what is God but love?

I think that's why I'm so interested in that.

Why I gravitated to that so much.

Because God is beautiful.

I mean God is love,

Right?

So thank you all for being with me and meditating with me.

I very much appreciate every single one of you.

Beautiful.

And until next time,

Namaste everybody.

Have a beautiful day.

Absolutely fantastic. About a year (or more?) ago, I found a meditation here on Insight called the Evening Examen. In it, you recall your day, remembering every interaction, every encounter, and seeing each as a moment with the Divine Presence. It changed my life. Obviously, I'm not perfect with the practice. But my Sankalpa has been, since then, I notice and honor the Divine Presence. I love, so much, your take on it, and this practice and mantra. I will find that poem by Blake and write it in my journal. May I also suggest the song Happiness Runs by Donovan. Thank you so much for this practice, dear one! Blessed Be!
