Day 3.
Letting go.
There are significant psychological benefits to letting go.
When we let go of painful emotions and focus on the present moment,
This regulates our feelings more effectively.
There is considerable evidence that mindfulness practice improves both mental and physical health.
Let us begin.
Find a comfortable way to sit.
Close your eyes.
Place your hands facing upwards on your lap ready to receive.
Letting go brings us freedom as we focus on the present moment.
Focus on what is available to you here and now.
Rejoice in knowing and feeling gratitude for the most simple of things.
What are you grateful for?
Hold on so tightly.
We aim so to avoid the pain,
Imagining future pain.
As we hold on,
We experience far greater pain.
Take a deep breath in and hold it for five seconds.
Release the breath and feel the sense of letting go.
Take another deep breath in and as you do,
Tense your body,
Holding onto the tension with the breath for another five seconds.
Holding,
Holding and release the breath.
Release the tension in your body.
As you release the breath,
Allow the tension in your body to melt away.
Again,
This time take a big breath in and tense your whole body,
Holding now for 10 seconds.
Holding with that tension.
Release,
Release the breath,
Release the tension and feel what it feels like to let go.
Let go,
Just melt with the release.
Feel the tension relaxing and your whole body releasing like you are floating away.
Simply notice the difference.
Why would you hold on so tightly when letting go feels so good?
Letting go,
Step back and notice what's going on in your mind.
Observe your thoughts and allow them to come and go.
Notice how you feel.
Simply notice without judgment.
What does it mean to accept things as they are here and now as we fight to understand the pain?
We visit and revisit the story that we play forwards and backwards,
Reinventing beliefs over and over.
Beliefs that may not be true.
Let go of the rumination.
Let go of the negative self-talk.
See your beauty,
Your ability,
Your strength,
Your love,
Your peace.
You can only control your own self,
Your own self-talk.
You are a bright spark of light.
From light you came,
Ruminating possibility.
Get lost in creating your future to live a more meaningful life.
Stay in the present moment and let go of painful thoughts and feelings.
Focus on your goals and values and follow your path with grace and ease.
Accept past experiences as lessons that shaped you.
The way you see the world,
The way you see yourself.
There are many ways to perceive.
Let go of painful thoughts and feelings that do not serve your creative energy.
Let them be there,
Though remain detached,
Simply observing them as they come and go,
Like the breath,
Without the gripping of tension or the need to hold on.
One final thought by Roy T.
Bennett,
The light in the heart.
Accept yourself,
Love yourself and keep moving forward.
If you want to fly,
You have to give up what weighs you down.
The truth is,
Unless you let go,
Unless you forgive yourself,
Unless you forgive the situation,
Unless you realize that the situation is over,
You cannot move forward.
