Cultivating connection,
Meditating on impermanence.
You were conceived.
You were a spark nestled in the womb of longing.
Seed of light growing to birth.
Awakening in the naked beginning.
Dormant senses ignite.
Harvest time marked from mother of the deepest,
Sincerest love ingrained in flesh.
The scar worn on her body.
Jewel that marks birth and memory of baby's suckle.
It will never be the same again.
This body.
Mother's body blossoms.
Then lets go.
The dance of routine.
To feed,
To bathe,
To sleep.
To feed,
To bathe,
To sleep.
To be with this penance of peace.
I need this more than ever now.
What is it?
To sleep again?
Mother treads the dark corridors of zombie land.
Breast by breast,
Things will change.
Though in this moment,
It's difficult to perceive or to know.
In this moment,
Resilience is mine.
It's guaranteed that no one thing will remain the same.
Each breath may seem like it is the same.
And yet each one is unique.
Each breath moves us slowly.
It takes us a while to notice that the stories we tell ourselves exist only in the neurons that predict our actions.
Weathered by our bodies holding.
Stories define what we believe to be true.
We carry them around with us like a basket full of laundry.
A suitcase's traveler.
A water bottle to quench our thirst and yet is never satiated.
The brain reverts with neurons.
Lost in what is imagined,
We step towards.
We then contract without realizing it's a dance.
And then we step towards,
Again,
This circle of being here.
The day awakens us and the night cocoons us to rest.
We expand and we contract.
Like the breath,
This analogy of opening and closing.
Take it in,
Release it out.
With each inhalation and each exhalation,
There is expansion,
Awareness,
Which moves us towards our singular connections to the collective nature.
Impermanence teaches us what it means to transcend,
Transform,
Move.
We are never static.
We are never one thing.
And in this way,
Let go of what you believe should be.
Sit quietly and watch.
Watch your baby.
Watch and notice the breath.
Now recall someone who has influenced you in some way.
Someone you admire.
Think of the lesson.
Think of the lesson that they may have taught you.
In what way do you live your life with this lesson?
In what way has this person become a part of you?
We are never so static as to be one thing.
We are born,
We grow,
We live,
We die.
We transform to the holistic nature of the earth.
To bring meaning to this is then to live life more fully.
To love with a passionate heart.
To be at ease with all living things.
To love my words.
In this way,
Meditate on practicing loving-kindness.
Impermanence brings us closer to what truly matters,
Enables us to connect and be with what is important,
To be with those we love.
In what way then will you live with the knowledge of impermanence?
