Welcome to Fit A Mind.
Today's meditation will be a meditation for our focus and concentration.
It's also a meditation where we get absorbed into the object we're meditating upon so that we lose ourself.
We become absorbed,
Embraced by that which we are meditating upon.
So for this meditation you will need an object and it can be anything that you find interesting.
Often you will find people meditate on the flame of a candle or an image,
A painting that is special or an image of someone you hold special and dear.
It can also be something from nature,
Flower,
Tree,
The sky,
Anything at all.
Whatever is right in front of you.
Take a moment to decide what your object will be.
Press pause if you need to and we'll resume when you're ready.
Welcome back.
So let's begin by taking a comfortable seat,
Making sure your spine is upright and your body is supported however you need to be comfortable.
This meditation is inspired by a radiance sutra,
Number 57.
It says,
Find something so enchanting to behold that you are transfixed,
Ravished,
And allow yourself to be captivated.
Gaze upon its form with the eyes of wonder.
Attend to the details,
This shape and texture,
These colors.
How can something be so beautiful?
With a steady gaze melt into it and melt into the field of space,
Embracing that form.
And at once be at one with the Creator who is looking through your eyes at this loving creation.
So now with your eyes open,
Starting to gaze at your object.
And as you're gazing at the object allow the eyes to soften and relax.
So it's more of a soft gaze than it is a hard stare.
Starting to notice the details of your object,
The shape,
Size,
Texture,
Color.
You really notice all the fine detail with awe,
Depreciation.
Notice your object in space,
How much space it takes up.
Notice the space that embraces your object,
The field of space embracing that form.
With your soft gaze allow yourself to be transfixed.
This single point of your focus of your concentration and awareness,
Gazing with the eyes of wonder,
Admiration,
Love.
Even if your object is very simple and plain,
Finding the beauty of it still.
And allow yourself to be captivated,
Ravished,
Enchanted.
And be at one with the Creator who is looking through your eyes also loving this form,
This creation.
And just like every meditation where we hold our attention to one point,
In this case one object,
The mind wanders,
Gets distracted.
Keep drawing it back,
Look again to the detail,
To the beauty.
Let's hold our gaze here now for two minutes,
Soft gaze,
Transfixed.
Let's hold our gaze here now for two minutes,
Soft gaze,
Transfixed.
Let's hold our gaze here now for two minutes,
Soft gaze,
Transfixed.
Notice if you've wondered,
Bringing yourself back to this form.
When we hold our attention to an object for long enough,
We become absorbed into it.
This is called dharana in the yoga sutras.
And just notice you can close your eyes now,
The space that that creates.
And you can do this meditation for as long as you have time for,
But even just a couple of minutes can bring us back into a place of peace,
Tranquility,
Oneness,
Awe,
And creates a little bit more space within.
Feel free to continue this meditation or if this is all the time you have for today,
And thank you so much for stopping by and meditating with us.
Have a beautiful rest of your day.
Namaste.
