This meditation is for when you are feeling agitated. Sitting with your feelings may be the last thing you want to do but there is a part of you that knows that it would be so much better for you to sit and allow the feelings and sensations to get metabolized instead of medicating them. So sit in your favorite meditation spot and let's start.

This meditation is for when you're feeling agitated.

Sitting with how you're feeling may be the last thing you want to do,

But there's a part of you that knows that it would be so much better for you to sit and allow the feelings and sensations to get metabolized instead of medicating them.

So sit in your favorite spot,

In your favorite position,

And let's meditate.

So first,

Start with just feeling the body sitting.

Allow the awareness to go to where your skin contacts the chair,

Maybe your feet contacting the floor.

See if you can surrender into the support of the chair,

The ground,

The earth.

Maybe there's a heaviness to your body.

Notice that you're breathing.

There's no need to change your breath.

Just notice what's happening.

Can you become aware of the aliveness that's running throughout the entire body?

How do you know you have a body?

And if your awareness goes to a particular place in your body,

That's okay.

Allow it to be as it is.

There's nothing you have to do to change it.

What's happening in this moment is just perfect.

The body has such an intelligence.

Just allowing the awareness to go where it goes is perfect.

And when the awareness chooses somewhere to go,

There's nothing that needs to be fixed or changed.

Just the awareness is enough.

The awareness might be put on a place that feels agitated,

But nothing needs to be changed.

Just noticing it.

You might notice a resistance to feeling it,

A subtle pushing away,

And that's okay too.

Allow the awareness to go to the subtle resistance without needing to change it.

Just noticing it is enough.

A thought might come in,

And that's just fine too.

The awareness can shift to the thought.

Allow the awareness to travel wherever it naturally travels without needing to change anything about either where the awareness goes or the part that the awareness is aware of.

Everything in this moment is just as it should be.

The awareness itself is just as it should be.

Maybe you become aware of your hands in your lap,

Energy pulsing through the hands.

You know you're alive.

Maybe the awareness shifts back to the place of agitation.

Maybe you become aware of that resistance.

A thought might come in,

And that's okay,

You can become aware of the thought.

You don't need to change the content of the thought.

You can just be aware of the thought.

You can watch it go away.

Follow the natural movement of the awareness between sensations in the body.

Maybe sounds around you.

Maybe thoughts.

Nothing needs to be changed.

The awareness is enough.

You don't even need to change what the awareness is aware of.

The awareness has its own intelligence.

You can allow that to happen spontaneously.

Allow the awareness to shift as it will,

Knowing that you don't need to change anything about what it's shining its light on.

Shining its light is enough.

If you hear a sound,

You can allow your awareness to expand and contact the sound.

If it shifts back into your body,

Allow that contact to shift with it.

If you become aware of the breath,

Allow yourself to move in the rhythm that the breath is moving,

Like you're swaying on a hammock.

Allow yourself to surrender into the support of the chair,

The ground.

Let your arms be heavy in your lap.

Allow any feelings of agitation just to be there.

No need to change them.

Allow any resistance to the feelings of agitation to be there as well.

No need to change that.

Just enjoy the rhythm and movement as the awareness shifts from a sound to the body to a thought.

Just relax into that flow.

You don't need to change anything.

Just allow yourself to go with that natural flow.
