Meditation isn't about forcing your mind to be quiet. It's more like observing your thoughts like clouds drifting across the sky. You don't try to make the clouds disappear, you simply watch them come and go. In this meditation, we'll gently train our attention to focus on the breath, allowing thoughts to arise and fade away naturally. You might be surprised by the calmness that emerges even with a busy mind.

Welcome.

If you've found yourself here,

It's likely you've thought at some point,

I can't meditate.

It's just not for me.

I can't stop my thoughts.

Perhaps your mind races or you feel restless.

Maybe you believe meditation is about emptying your mind and you're convinced that's impossible.

Let me assure you,

You're not alone.

Many people feel the same way.

The thing is,

Meditation is a practice,

Not a performance.

There's no right or wrong way to meditate.

All that matters is showing up,

Not having an empty mind.

I mean,

Is that even possible?

So let's give meditation a try and see how it goes.

Find a comfortable position,

Either sitting or lying down,

And start to let your body relax.

Allow your feet to feel heavy,

Your legs to feel grounded.

Just feel the weight of your body in whatever you're sitting or lying on.

Your hands can rest gently on your lap or by your sides.

And close your eyes or look down,

Whatever feels comfortable for you.

Now start to notice your breath.

Notice your inhale and your exhale.

Might even help if you tell yourself to relax on each out-breath.

So breathe in and relax.

Breathe in and relax.

Now I want you to meet a part of yourself.

This part believes I can't meditate.

It might be a voice,

A feeling,

Or even a character.

Take a moment to acknowledge this part.

You might even give it a name.

There's no judgment here,

Just observation.

I invite you to gently ask this part,

Can you please step aside for a few minutes?

You can say,

I'll come back later,

But for now,

I'd really like to explore the space of meditation.

Don't worry if this part protests,

Just simply repeat your request.

Ask it to just step aside.

Notice what arises as this part steps aside.

Are there any feelings,

Sensation,

Or thoughts that come up?

Now just notice them without judgment.

They're simply visitors to your mind.

Let them come and go without getting caught up in them.

Imagine the thoughts are floating away.

Perhaps you'll come back to your breath.

It's always there,

A steady anchor.

Notice the rise and fall of your chest or belly.

Don't try to control it,

Just observe it.

If your mind wanders,

That's perfectly normal.

Gently bring your attention back to your breath.

You're not failing if your mind wanders,

You're simply practicing.

Remember the goal isn't to empty your mind,

It's about learning to detach from your thoughts.

Let them come and go like clouds passing through the sky.

Now take a few moments to notice how you feel.

What sensations are present in your body right now?

Is your mind quieter?

Are you feeling more relaxed?

There's no right or wrong,

Simply observe.

As you begin to bring this meditation to a close,

Thank yourself for taking the time for yourself.

Remember meditation is a practice.

The more you do it,

The easier it becomes.

And even on the days when it feels challenging,

You're still making progress as you show up.

So when you're ready,

Gently open your eyes.

Take a deep breath and stretch your body.

You've done it,

You've meditated.

You still had thoughts,

Your mind wasn't empty,

But you meditated.

And remember,

You can meditate again anytime,

Anywhere.

The more regular you practice,

The better.

Good luck.
