This is an invitation to turn inward and explore the thoughts, feelings, and sensations present within you today. By noticing these different aspects of yourself, you create space from overwhelm, allowing for greater clarity and insight on how to move forward. Use this practice at any time of the day to reconnect with the lived experience of your body.

Hello and welcome to your somatic check-in.

My name's Jasmine and I'm so happy that you're here.

This was something I first explored when I was on the Hoffman process and since then have explored it across different modalities in different ways and it's something that has stuck with me to this day as something that I include in every day.

You can do this either seated,

Lying down or even walking if you wish and we'll land here together by taking a gentle deep breath in and breathing it out.

Once more,

Deep breath in and breathing out.

And allowing your breath to move on its own accord now,

In its own way.

As you bring your awareness,

Your curiosity up into your mind.

Starting to become aware of what you're thinking about.

Any thoughts,

Any stories,

Judgments.

Are we time-traveling into the past,

Projecting into the future?

And sometimes when we become curious it's as if the mind becomes shy,

It can all of a sudden go quiet.

So you may be curious of what have I been thinking of recently?

What has occupied most of my mental activity?

Taking a moment to explore this.

Taking a gentle breath and bringing your awareness now down into your heart space.

Starting to become curious of any emotions that are with you currently.

Noticing we can sometimes feel anxieties and excitement.

Maybe we feel calm and at ease.

And being human is to experience the full spectrum of human emotion.

Acknowledging that sometimes that includes multiple emotions at once.

And as like before,

If this emotional part of us is quiet,

Or maybe subtle right now,

We might be curious of how our emotional well-being has been recently.

Today,

This week.

Taking a moment to explore that.

Finding another gentle breath.

And now allowing your awareness to wander through your body.

Noticing what sensations feel apparent to you right now.

Perhaps the way your body is moving as it breathes.

Noticing the expansion and the release.

Perhaps you notice sensations of discomfort,

Even pain,

Perhaps.

And while there may be sensations that are strong and intense,

Perhaps there are some sensations that are subtle and quiet.

For example,

The temperature of the air on your skin.

The feeling of breath moving in through your nose and out.

And while you spend a moment here,

Exploring the sensations in your body,

Let yourself become curious of what energy levels you might have available for life today.

And with your next gentle breath,

Start to move this body of yours.

Perhaps moving around the joints,

Taking the head from side to side.

And you can begin to move as small or as large as you'd like,

As you greet this body of yours today.

Open and curious to the thoughts,

The feelings and the sensations that make up your lived experience.

My name's Jasmine,

And thank you for being with me today.

Very useful, Jasmine, thank you. I suffer from CFS and have recently been introduced to somatic therapy (specifically the idea of a short check in several times a day) so this is ideal, especially for the mornings. For the rest of the day I would love an even shorter one
