Welcome to your Yoga Nidra practice.

This practice will take you into deeper states of relaxation to help release thoughts and emotions that no longer serve you.

Find a comfortable place to lie down and make sure that your body feels supported and warm.

Make any adjustments necessary to ensure that you can remain still for the duration of this practice.

Take a slow,

Gentle breath in and pause for just a second at the top.

With ease,

Exhale all the way out and let it go.

Notice the effect.

While remaining calm,

Begin to fill your lungs again.

Pause at the top of this breath and hold onto it.

Take another sip of air in underneath the collarbones.

Hold it.

Slowly exhale and completely let go.

Feel your bones drop heavy into the earth.

Sense that there is nothing to do and nowhere to go.

Notice the experience of simply being as you are in the moment exactly as it is.

As you feel tension releasing from your being,

Imagine as if the back plane of your body were sinking into warm,

Red,

Earthy clay.

Feel the clay molding to your body,

Creating a cradle of support for your heels,

Calves,

Hips,

Spine,

Shoulders,

Arms,

And head.

As you breathe in,

Feel your ribs gently expand in every direction.

Without force,

Allow the breath to exit the body.

Feel the support beneath you form to fit each contour of your body.

Feel that the more you let go,

The more you are supported.

Take another slow breath in and allow your belly to rise.

Exhale and release the need to control,

Fix,

Or manage anything for the duration of this practice.

As we move into deeper states of relaxation,

I invite you to begin this practice with a prayer or an intention.

You might consider,

I accept all that is,

Or I surrender to the natural flow of the universe.

If you have a more personalized sankalpa that you feel will better aid you in letting go,

Please offer this to your practice.

Fall into the center of your awareness where you feel a sense of boundless clarity.

Repeat your prayer or your sankalpa to yourself three times,

And feel it echo throughout your entire being.

In this moment,

Notice if you're experiencing any particular emotion,

Whether it be anxiety,

Sadness,

Anger,

Or otherwise.

Start to detect where in your body this emotion is manifesting,

Perhaps in your chest or belly.

Once you locate it,

Begin to drop the storyline associated with it,

The reasoning behind it,

And just breathe into it.

Breathe into the tender essence of your experience.

Notice the soothing effect of your breath.

Feel your inhalations to create space,

A sense that things are expanding from the inside out.

Feel that your exhalations can dissolve any kind of anxious energy,

Anything that feels shaky,

Tense,

Or stuck.

Feel that you're beginning to experience an awareness of free-flowing energy throughout the body.

Everything is moving smoothly,

Easily,

And naturally.

To allow for a deeper sense of relaxation will circulate attention to different parts of the body.

As I name different parts,

Find a complete release of any tension on the spot and without hesitation.

Give yourself permission to let go.

Find a very soft and easy breath in and out.

Feel your hands.

Sense the weight of their bones.

Feel the roots of your fingers,

Thumbs,

Second fingers,

Third fingers,

Fourth fingers,

And fifth fingers.

Feel how the tips of your fingers curl up effortlessly.

Sense your palms,

Soft and patient.

Feel the pockets of your elbow creases,

Still and quiet.

Sense the heads of your arm bones releasing deep into their sockets.

Collar bones are floating long and wide.

Take a slow breath in and feel your entire chest expand front,

Back,

Side to side.

As you exhale,

Drop more deeply into your back body.

It is safe to let go.

Release pressure in the right side of your chest,

Left side of your chest,

Upper abdomen,

Lower abdomen,

Pelvic floor,

Unclench the outer hips,

Inner groins,

Thighs,

And knee capsules.

Relax your shins,

Calves,

And ankle joints.

Feel the heels become heavier as you soften your inner arches.

Let go of your big toes,

Second toes,

Third toes,

Fourth toes,

And fifth toes.

Feel the same sort of release in your face.

Allow the bridge of your nose to lengthen as you soften your nostrils.

Feel the corners of your lips melt away from one another as the hinges of your jaw unlock.

As you soften your temples,

Feel the inner ears expand.

Breathe awareness into the right side of your face,

Left side of your face,

Crown of your head,

Soles of your feet.

Sense both of your arms together.

Feel both of your legs together.

Feel the space in front of your body and feel the space behind your body.

Sense your whole body as one unit,

Completely free of tension,

Nowhere to go,

Nothing to do,

Completely at peace,

Effortless,

Free.

Begin to imagine that your body is becoming warmer and warmer.

You are beginning to feel hot.

Imagine walking outside in a hot,

Sweltering desert.

Feel your skin perspiring.

The sun is boiling.

Your whole body is getting hotter and hotter.

Now experience the sensation of becoming cold.

Remember the experience of getting caught up in bitter cold temperatures.

Your face and fingers are frozen.

You feel a chill all the way into your bones.

Your whole body is freezing cold.

Remember the experience of feeling stiff.

Your body feels tight and tense.

Feel the pull of tension throughout the entire body as if it is stiffening up like a board.

Remember the experience of rigidity throughout the whole body.

Now imagine your body becoming completely limp,

Loose like a baggy sweater.

Feel that you are completely free of tension.

Your body is experiencing a total sense of slack.

Feel that your whole body is completely relaxed.

Imagine that you are completely apathetic,

Bored and disinterested in what is going on.

Numb even.

Feel completely emotionless.

Now remember the experience of passion,

Falling in love with an idea,

A place,

Or a person.

Feel the excitement and momentum that inspires you to take action.

Begin to experience the sensation of heaviness in your body.

Your whole body is dropping.

Feel your body descend like a heavy rock.

Your body is succumbing to gravity.

Your body is so heavy that it feels immobile.

It is creating an imprint on the surface beneath you.

Feel now that your body is becoming light and buoyant from your heels to your hips to your head.

The whole body is floating up.

Experience the freedom of being weightless,

Like space,

And feel that it is not just your body that is light.

Your whole being is completely unrestrained.

Feel yourself release the part of you that is a personality.

The personality that we sometimes work so hard to maintain and defend.

Let go of the personality that is attached to an image,

A label,

A role,

Or a job title.

Let go of the personality that has likes and dislikes,

That judges and criticizes,

That compares and has beliefs about what is right and what is wrong and how things are supposed to be.

Let go of the personality that has a to-do list,

That is dissatisfied with anything or anyone.

As you continue to let go of these aspects of yourself that are an illusion,

Feel yourself completely weightless,

Free,

Boundless.

All that's left is the limitless potential of space,

Pure love,

And freedom.

It is in this space that you experience authentic empowerment,

Your highest self,

Your biggest heart,

Your biggest mind.

Take a gentle breath in and a patient breath out.

That's how easy it can be to let go.

In this wide open space,

You experience a complete sense of acceptance,

Patience,

And grace.

Your mind is supple,

Expansive,

And infinite.

As you continue to let go,

Feel a deep sense of peace in the center of your heart,

Deep in the body.

Allow your awareness to rest in this sanctuary of stillness and silence.

You are home.

While remaining in this state of profound tranquility,

Return to your sankalpa or intention for this practice.

As you bring it back to mind,

Repeat it to yourself mentally three times,

And feel it wash over your entire being.

Come back to your body.

Feel your body fully in this moment.

Begin to deepen your breath and feel the quality of your mind,

The quality of your body,

The potency of this moment.

Notice that the freedom you feel in your body and your mind is completely by choice.

You have chosen to release and let go.

This choice is available to you at any time.

This liberation is always within reach.

Breathe more awareness down into your legs and your feet.

Breathe more awareness into your arms and hands.

Feel your whole body breathing and begin to find some small movements in your joints.

Thank you so much for joining me for this practice.

Namaste.
