Welcome to your Shekhyanu meditation.
One where we're going to honor new beginnings,
Let ourselves be courageous,
And appreciate the sacred mundane.
What is the Shekhyanu?
This is one of my favorite prayers.
One that really offers an opportunity to honor the moment you're in,
Especially if you're venturing into new territory,
Whether it's a new career,
A new relationship,
A new moment in life.
Here are the words of the prayer to familiarize ourselves with its essence.
Barakat Adonai Eloheinu Malakha Olam Shekhyanu B'kiyamanu B'hiyyanu In English,
Blessed are you majestic spirit of the universe who gives me life,
Sustains the rhythms of my body,
And brings me to this moment of renewal.
Now that we have the shape of the words on our tongues and in our hearts,
Let's apply this.
It's my favorite Hebrew prayer for not only moments of renewal,
But also a really sneaky way to come back to the present moment and be courageous.
Take in a deep breath with me here,
Welcoming our ancestors into this spirit conversation.
And as you breathe out,
Remember how loved you are by force seen and unseen.
Another breath in and out.
One more deep breath in,
Celebrating the sacred mundane,
And out.
Warming our inner pillars of trust.
Take a moment now to think about where you're looking to be more courageous,
Where you're growing out of your own personal comfort zones through the safe lens of spirit.
Calling in Archangel Michael and Archangel Ariel for support as we think about and feel into these new inner and outer beginnings and worlds.
How can we open to growing just a little bit more,
To easing into these new beginnings just a little bit more.
Really get into this felt sense.
Surrounding ourselves with spirit and with warmth,
Welcoming the Shekhinah into this space,
The divine feminine presence.
Let's sit in the depth of this prayer again together,
Knowing we're held and guided and loved and supported on our paths,
Wherever we stand along them.
So here is that prayer.
Baruch atah adonai Eloheinu melech haolam,
Shekhiyanu v'kiyamanu v'higiyanu lazman hazeh.
And in English again,
Blessed are you majestic spirit of the universe who gives me life,
Sustains the rhythms of my body and brings me into this moment of renewal.
Let this moment be one where you trust yourself just a little bit more,
Where you love yourself just a little bit more,
Knowing you're here in this moment because you're capable and you can relax in the arms of spirit as you take bold and small steps into an even deeper and even richer life.
Amen
