The practice of being mindful and following our breath can be the most important and powerful practice we can do. The past is in the past, and we cannot change it; the future has not happened, and that is why the future is full of possibilities. In the present moment, we may begin to build a new future and improve our current reality. Through our breath, we can access our zen power within. Hi,

My name is Robert Aceves.

And this is a mindfulness meditation to be in the present and to also reduce the amount of stress in your life.

One of my favorite practices in Zen Buddhism is to follow our breath.

It's very simple and yet it could be very powerful.

And so today I'm going to ask you to be in a place where you can sit comfortably or lay down,

Whichever you prefer.

What's important is that you get comfortable and that you don't move for the next 20 to 30 minutes.

Let's begin.

Close your eyes.

And with your eyes closed,

I want you to scan your body and notice how you're feeling today.

I want you to feel your head,

Your arms,

Your legs,

Your whole body.

And notice if you're tense,

Relaxed,

Stressed,

Tired,

Whatever you're feeling.

I just want you to become aware of that feeling.

And I want you to scan your mind and notice what's in your mind right now.

What are you thinking about?

Good.

Now we're not trying to change anything.

I just want you to become aware of those things.

Now I'm going to ask you to take a deep breath in and exhale.

Take another deep breath in and exhale.

Take another deep breath in and exhale.

And basically this practice is to help us come to the present,

To keep us in the present.

So I'm going to ask you to feel your breath going into your body and leaving your body.

That's it.

It's very simple.

And that's all we want to do is just focus on our breath and follow our breath.

And it's called following the breath because we're constantly changing.

It's never the same.

And our breath is one way where we can follow that present and constantly bring our attention to the present.

You can also listen to some of the sounds around the room and feel the temperature.

Does it feel really hot?

Are you really cold?

Are you comfortable?

This is the present right here,

Right now.

So feel the present.

Feel your breath.

Feel your body.

How does it feel right now in this moment?

And with each breath you can already feel your body getting more comfortable,

Your mind getting a little bit more relaxed.

And just notice if you're thinking too much,

If things come to mind about the past,

Things you might have to do later today.

And just notice those things.

Pay attention to them.

But don't go into them.

Don't grasp on those things.

Just let them go.

And again,

Go back to your breath and feel your breath going into your body and leaving your body.

So so and continue to feel your breath.

And notice as you're laying down or sitting down,

If there are a lot of thoughts that come to your mind.

Or if you can just go back to your breath and feel your breath emptying your mind,

Letting go of the past.

The past is gone.

Past is in the past.

That's a really good reminder to bring your attention back to the present,

Because I can't really help you with your past.

The past is gone.

It's already happened.

So we can't change the past.

And so when we let go of the past and we're able to focus on the now,

This is where we can change our lives in this moment.

And the future hasn't happened yet.

So the future is full of possibilities.

So that's why the present is so important to be here in the now and feel this moment,

Be in this moment,

Bring your full awareness and all your attention to this moment.

Feeling your breath going into your body and leaving your body.

The And you can feel right now,

How does your body feel?

Are you tired of listening to me or being in this position?

Focusing on your breath?

Are you bored yet?

Sometimes we get bored easily.

Sometimes we think too much and we're thinking about the things we need to do later today.

Or something you did yesterday,

This morning.

Whatever it is,

Just become aware of it.

And that's why we call this a practice.

Because we're practicing to bring our attention back to the present,

Back to our breath.

Following the present,

Following our breath,

So we can learn to be in the moment.

Because being in the present is basically learning to be in your life.

To be present.

To live your life.

To live every moment and every minute of your life.

And to be there,

Present,

Enjoying whatever it is.

Good or bad,

I think we can really experience life if we are present.

If we can be present in our lives,

That's when we can make the changes that are necessary.

Whatever it is,

It'll be easier if you're there,

Present,

Experiencing every moment.

Again,

This is your life.

So feel your breath,

Feel this moment,

And bring your full attention,

Your full awareness back to the present.

Letting go of your thoughts and just being this moment.

You can really feel something beautiful that comes from the present,

From being here in the now.

And enjoy.

Feel your breath for a few more minutes.

Good or bad,

I think we can really experience life.

Good or bad,

I think we can really experience life.

Good or bad,

I think we can really experience life.

Good or bad,

I think we can really experience life.

Good or bad,

I think we can really experience life.

Good or bad,

I think we can really experience life.

Good or bad,

I think we can really experience life.

And as you continue to breathe,

Notice how you're feeling now.

Does your body feel more relaxed?

Are you still tense?

Are you still thinking too much?

Are you still able to bring your attention back to your breath?

Feeling this moment,

Experiencing the now with your full attention and awareness.

Noticing your body.

How does it feel?

How do you feel?

And from my experience,

I found that the more I'm able to let go of the past,

The happier I am in the present.

And it's interesting because the more we resist letting go of the past,

The more we suffer.

And so,

We accept the changes and we accept that life is change.

And we're going to be happier and we're going to be able to experience the present even more.

So,

Feel your breath and feel this moment.

Again,

Follow your breath and feel this present because now this is the present.

So,

Imagine that we just started this exercise,

Practicing being in the now.

So,

Feel this moment.

Again,

Feel the temperature in the room,

The sounds around you and bring your attention back to the now.

Okay.

You you you you you you Feel your breath going into your body And leaving your body And by now You can already feel your body more relaxed your mind more calm There's a beautiful feeling that comes from practicing this Type of meditation of being present and following the breath Remember years ago when I was in Japan Practicing in a monastery I asked my teacher at the time Who was 107 years old I said What is the most important thing you learned in your?

Practice and in your life over 107 years old And he said I've learned that life is not about learning That's it okay,

So if life is not about learning.

What is life all about?

And he replied Life is about doing And I said okay,

So if life is about doing as it.

What is the most important thing you've ever done And he said to breathe and that was the end of the conversation And I went back to meditate And I thought about this And he's right.

I think breathing is probably the most important thing we can do Just imagine if you stop breathing even for a couple minutes What would happen to your body?

Exactly So we practice following the breath And we practice being alive So feel your breath going into your body And leaving your body And this is the most important thing you can do Because there's nothing more important than you You are the most important thing in order for your life to happen So following your breath and focusing on the now Is practically learning how to live your life And so I want you to continue to feel your breath and feel your body in this moment Feeling the present just now this moment Letting go of the past and all the things you've already lived Good or bad,

They're gone.

It's in the past So bring your attention and your awareness back to this moment And you're gonna practice this for a few more minutes and then you're gonna take this for the rest of your day Because you can practice following your breath when you're talking to your friends Working,

Driving Or doing whatever activity you end up doing But for now,

Let's do a few more minutes where you can just focus on your breath and feel this moment Feel your breath going into your body And leaving your body So So So And you can already feel your body so much better And so in the next few minutes you can stop this recording and go back to your life Or if you choose to stay a little bit longer you can stay for as long as you want And keep practicing following your breath And even when this stops you can continue with the rest of your day following your breath Even right before you go to sleep I found that if you focus on your breath you can sleep much better as well And my voice is going to leave you now,

But I hope that you continue to practice this on a regular basis As always,

I wish you the best and thank you for your time.

See you next time So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So So
