Over 15 days, Jay will walk you through specific practices that will support you in dealing with the stress of unpredictability and isolation in these times. They will help you wind down, build immunity, and create a state from which you are more resilient with whatever life throws at you. Resilience doesn’t mean that you’ll be happy all the time, but it does mean you have the energy, the mindset, and the spiritual support to weather the storm.

Welcome to day 14 of Developing Resilience.

Every living creature knows that the sum total of its pulsations is limited.

Every day ends with darkness.

Things must get done today or they will not happen at all.

Think about it.

If nothing stopped you from following your dreams,

Your life would probably be very different.

This is what the dying learn.

Living makes our worst fears come forward to be faced directly.

It helps us to see the different life that is possible.

And in that vision takes the rest of our fears away.

Unfortunately by the time the fear is gone most of us are too sick or too old to do those things we would have done before had we not been afraid.

Thus one lesson becomes clear.

We must transcend our fears while we still can do those things we dream of.

To transcend fear though we must move somewhere else emotionally.

We must move into love.

Drop inside.

Become aware of yourself.

Exclude all external stimuli as much as possible for just a few moments.

Ignore all internal chatter and any emotional waves that may pass through you and just notice.

Just observe.

Become aware.

Self aware.

All that you seek outside yourself you already have within you.

Everything you did is motivated by a personal desire to seek one thing.

The contentment that comes from feeling your inner peace.

And the giving of the energy that you are.

Which is love.

When you see this and notice you recognize that all seeking is simply a search for the self and you were looking in the wrong direction.

I am love.

No extra drop of love from out there can complete me.

Be aware of the psychological fact that death is life's door.

No power can save you from walking through that threshold one day.

The Buddha said of all footprints those of the elephant are supreme.

Of all the meditations that upon death is supreme.

Now imagine you have died.

The body is cremated.

You are liberated in no pain.

Selfless.

Light and conscious.

The role you have been associated with for so long does not exist anymore.

Watch the drama from beyond as a detached observer.

Watch the play continuing and unfolding like a film in which your role does not exist anymore.

Watch those people who were near and dear to you move on with their lives.

They will be okay.

I am okay.

The play continues just as the seasons come and go.

Each act of meditation is a dying to outward activity.

A relinquishment of distraction.

A cessation of anticipatory gratification.

It is life now as it is.

Someday this austere focus will come in very very handy.

Ask yourself what is mine to do today and to postpone no more.

Notice how you feel right now.

Thank you.

Join me tomorrow for a meditation on no more struggle.

Until then,

Be well.

I was reluctant to practice this meditation and waited until I felt ready. It’s beautiful and like most of your meditations, I will happily practice again. Thank you, Jay.
