Transcript

Come to rest on your back.

Be comfortable.

If desired,

Place a thin blanket over your body and under your head.

Rest your legs hip distance apart and gently extend your heels along the floor away from your hips.

Then let your legs soften.

Rest your arms by your side with your palms turned up.

If you need to adjust your body position at any time during the practice of yoga nidra,

Simply adjust slowly.

Feel your body's position on the surface you are lying on.

Sense where your body touches and gently releases onto the support of Mother Earth underneath you.

Notice your breath.

Notice your breath.

Sense its easy flow in and out of your body.

Welcome your breath into your belly.

Inhale slowly and fully into your belly.

Then exhale with a deep sigh.

Inhale slowly and fully again.

And exhale completely.

Inhale into your belly.

Inhale into your belly.

And exhale silently say eight.

Inhale into your belly.

And exhale seven.

Inhale.

Exhale six.

Exhale six.

Continue to silently count down upon each exhalation until you arrive at zero.

Let go of counting.

Your breath is a subtle wave of calming energy flowing through you.

We are going to quiet your body and mind further.

In a moment you are going to vibrate the sound of the letter M on each exhalation of breath.

Feel your subtle breath.

Feel the air floating through your nostrils.

Sense your lips softly come together.

Soften your jaw.

Inhale.

And as you exhale,

Vibrate the sound of the letter M like the sound of a bumblebee.

Inhale again.

And exhale,

Repeat the vibrating sound of the letter M.

Continue with the letter M vibration on each exhalation eight more times on your own.

Feel each vibration quiet the waves of your mind.

Let go of the vibrating sound.

Breathe naturally.

Feel your face expressionless.

Sense your mind calm and present.

Be still as you are guided into deeper states of serenity.

Recall or imagine a place of peacefulness for you.

A place where you felt or feel a complete ease and well-being.

Fill this place with details including any nature surroundings,

People,

Symbols,

And any feelings that nurture well-being for you.

Let your five senses be open in cultivating any sounds,

Smells,

Tastes,

Colors,

Or sensations that make your place of peacefulness come to life.

Notice where you feel your place of peacefulness in your body.

Feel its soothing and comforting energy.

Come back to your place of peacefulness anytime something feels overwhelming to you during this practice.

Say to yourself mentally,

I am awake and aware.

I am awake and aware.

Look inwards now towards your heart.

Breathe into your heart space.

Is there a deep desire for your life that speaks to you here?

Maybe to heal a held emotion or belief or deepen self-acceptance or inner peace.

Listen to whatever arises as you breathe into your heart space.

There is no wrong answer.

Whatever arises,

Allow it to surface and speak to you freely.

Welcome any sensation,

Words,

Or felt symbol in setting your intention.

Affirm your intention to yourself a few times in the present tense as if it were already true.

Breathe it into every cell of your body.

Maintain your awareness as we flow through specific energy points of the body to release tensions and balance the nervous system.

Welcome and experience each body point as it is touched by your awareness.

Whichever way you experience these body points is fine.

Simply follow the guidance of my voice.

Notice the space between your eyebrows,

The third eye.

Pour your awareness into this space.

Let it deepen into the calming silence here.

Sense the base of your throat.

Feel your right shoulder,

Right elbow,

Wrist,

Tip of right thumb,

Tip of right index finger,

Tip of the middle finger,

Tip of the ring finger,

Tip of the little finger.

Notice your right wrist,

Right elbow,

Right shoulder,

Base of your throat.

Be aware of your left shoulder,

Left elbow,

Wrist,

Tip of the left thumb,

Tip of the left index finger,

Tip of the middle finger,

Tip of the ring finger,

Tip of the little finger.

Notice your left wrist,

Left elbow,

Left shoulder,

Base of your throat,

Middle of your chest,

Right nipple,

Middle of your chest,

Left nipple,

Middle of your chest,

Navel center,

Lower abdomen.

Sense your right hip,

Right knee,

Right ankle,

Tip of your right big toe,

Tip of your right second toe,

Tip of the third toe,

Tip of the fourth toe,

Tip of the fifth toe.

Be aware of your right ankle,

Right knee,

Right hip,

Lower abdomen.

Sense your left hip,

Left knee,

Left ankle,

Tip of your left big toe,

Tip of your left second toe,

Tip of third toe,

Tip of the fourth toe,

Tip of the fifth toe.

Sense your left ankle,

Left knee,

Left hip,

Lower abdomen,

Navel center,

Middle chest,

Base of the throat,

Third eye between your eyebrows.

Let your awareness deepen into this space at the third eye.

In this space,

Feel all the body points you have just touched with your awareness.

This is a natural energetic healing system that flows through and unifies your whole body.

Feel your body at complete ease.

In this ease and stillness,

Sense the tip of your nose.

Feel your breath flow through your nostrils,

Steady and easy.

As you exhale,

Like a gentle blue wave,

Sense your breath flow from the top of your head down your spine to the spine base.

And as you inhale,

A gentle blue wave of breath flows up your spine to the top of your head.

Feel the subtle flow of this blue wave of breath.

Exhale down to the spine base and inhale to the top of your head.

Observe the exhalations down the spine and the inhalations up the spine.

Exhale down to the spine.

Exhale down to the spine.

Exhale down to the spine.

On your next inhalation,

Feel the sensation of heaviness flood into your body.

Each inhalation fills your body with heaviness,

All muscles and bones heavy like a stone on each inhalation.

Now notice your exhalations.

Upon each exhalation,

Sense your whole body drain into weightlessness.

Whole body is as light as a cloud on every exhalation.

Inhale,

Feel your body fill with heaviness.

Each inhalation fills your body with heaviness.

Exhale,

Feel your body empty into weightlessness.

Your body is weightless upon each exhalation.

Inhale,

Body is heavy.

Exhale,

Body empties into weightlessness.

Inhale,

Body fills with heaviness.

Exhale,

Body empties becoming hollow.

Breathe naturally.

Sense your body hollow and light.

If desired,

Come back to your place of peacefulness.

It's always here to comfort you.

And with the physical body hollow and light,

Feel each exhalation as an ocean tide now,

Releasing you into further equanimity and peace.

Inhale and exhale,

Feel tensions and barriers wash away with the outgoing tide.

Tensions and barriers wash away on each exhalation.

Upon each exhalation now,

Unwanted habits are washing away.

Unwanted habits wash away.

On each exhalation,

Held emotions are washing away.

Held emotions wash away.

Feel each exhalation wash away any held emotions into the ocean's vastness.

Feel the lightness within you.

In this lightness,

You are now lying still on a warm and quiet ocean beach.

A gentle surf washes in and out.

See yourself in this environment.

Notice any nature details of your ocean beach surrounding.

Notice colors,

Textures,

Any sounds.

Feel the healing energy of this place.

Experience the healing energy of the water as it touches your toes and feet.

Each incoming wave gently washes through you with a healing affirmation.

Wave receding into the ocean connects you closer to your light.

Incoming wave gently washes through you.

Affirm to yourself intuitively,

I trust myself.

I trust myself.

Outgoing wave brings you closer to your light.

Fresh healing wave washes through you again.

Affirm to yourself,

I flow with life in ease and peace.

I flow with life in ease and peace.

Outgoing wave recedes from you.

You are closer to your light.

Next wave flows through you.

I love myself.

I love myself.

Outgoing wave draws you closer to your light.

Incoming wave washes through you.

Affirm to yourself,

I am already whole.

I am already whole.

You are merging with your light.

Opening to your light,

Be aware of any sensations in your body or event in your life that welcomes the feeling of joy.

Notice where you feel this joy in your body.

And let it fill your heart.

This joy leaves a smile across your heart.

Joy is a smile across your heart.

This smile and joy now opens into every cell of your body.

You feel a sense of awakening in this smile and joy in you.

The smile of your heart and its joy heal you on all levels of being.

You fully accept yourself as you are.

You are closer to your light.

In this joy,

You expand beyond your body into the fluidity of the ocean spaciousness.

You open into awareness that welcomes all sensations,

Emotions,

Beliefs and joy,

Just as they are.

Feel yourself expand into the vast ocean of awareness,

Flowing freely in all directions.

In this freedom,

You dissolve from the vast ocean into the open space of the blue sky everywhere.

Here there is nothing to do,

Just simply be.

You are the endless blue sky of awareness.

Awareness that is free of all cause and effect.

Being as you are and open to everything as it is.

Pure awareness.

You are the light.

You are the light.

Resting in your light,

Recall your intention from the beginning of your practice.

Affirm it again to yourself a few times.

See yourself living your intention already.

Thoughts and emotions will shift in your life,

But you remain connected to your intention and you as the unchanging light where all things come and pass.

Resting as unchanging awareness,

Feel yourself in harmony with nature and the universe.

Be aware of the space between your eyebrows.

This is your inner wisdom.

It is your guide that enables you to observe and respond to emotional and belief sensations instead of reacting.

Trust in your inner wisdom to navigate you in daily life.

Sense yourself comfortably merge back within your physical body again as you remain connected to you as the blue sky of unchanging awareness.

Notice thoughts and feelings flowing through you.

Feel your breath deepening.

And sense your body awakening.

Slowly move your toes and fingers.

Stretch your body out slowly.

Notice your surroundings.

Resting on your back,

Take a moment to give thanks for your practice today.

For the experience of healing and connection to your ever present wholeness.

For loving yourself.

Reach your arms overhead and inhale fully into your belly and exhale let it all go.

Thank yourself for practicing Yoga Nidra.

Be at peace.
