Welcome.
Let's use some healing touch to befriend our body again.
Whether you're feeling detached and disconnected from your body or perhaps even disappointed or frustrated with your body,
This meditation will guide you towards self compassion.
My name is Emily.
I'm a massage therapist and I'm so happy you're here with me.
Let's begin by helping you get comfortable.
Find your way to a position that feels safe and supportive for your body.
Perhaps you choose to add comfort with a cushion or blankets.
Bring in whatever you need for support.
Now in this position,
Breathe in and as you exhale,
Allow the weight of your body to release more fully into the support below you.
Let's take a moment now to detach from the outside world more fully.
We'll begin at the eyes.
Bring your hands to rest over your eyes.
These eyes that help you process the visuals around you.
Let them rest.
Now bring your hands over your ears.
These ears that listen to the sounds and voices around us all day.
Let them rest.
Bring your hands to rest over your nose.
This nose that helps us experience the smells around us.
Let it rest.
Bring your finger pads to rest on your lips.
Your tongue and your taste buds color the experience of the foods we bring into our mouth.
Let them rest.
Bring your palms to touch hands together.
Sense into the skin across either palm.
This skin that brings in all the sensations,
The textures,
The temperatures around us.
Let it all rest.
Breathe in and as you exhale,
Turn your palms away from you as you exhale and push the world away from you.
Again breathing in,
Palms face towards you and exhale out,
Palms face away as you push the outside world and any other worries away.
Be with your body in this moment.
Perhaps you place your hands wherever it's comfortable on your body.
This body is your companion through your journey.
Extend compassion to it.
Let yourself rest.
Let yourself feel comfort.
Now cross the right palm over the left shoulder.
Let's give our shoulder a little massage here as we squeeze the shoulder in our palm and release.
Again a little shoulder massage squeezing and releasing.
Now continue this squeeze down the length of the arm slowly making our way towards the hand.
Beginning at the cap of the shoulder,
Moving down to the elbow.
Extend comfort and compassion to your body and receive that comfort and compassion from your touch.
Squeezing now from the elbow down to the wrist.
Letting your left arm rest and receive.
Once you've reached your wrist bring your hands to rest.
Breathe and feel into the sensation of your left arm.
What has shifted for you?
Notice it and we'll repeat on the other side.
So now cross the left palm over to the right side and we'll give our right side a little massage as we squeeze the top of the shoulder and release.
How does this feel for you?
Let's do it one more time.
A little massage to the top of the shoulder squeezing releasing the tissue and now we'll continue our squeeze down the length of the arm all the way out to the hand.
Squeezing down towards the elbow extending comfort and receiving comfort.
Extending compassion and receiving compassion.
This is the beauty of self-touch.
Moving down slowly,
Rhythmically with whatever pressure you'd like.
Letting the arm rest,
Letting it receive.
Once you've reached your wrist you can let both arms rest.
Breathe in and feel.
You've detached from the outside world.
It's just you and your body.
You are capable of extending comfort to yourself and you are capable of receiving comfort from yourself.
Perhaps you extend a mantra to your body.
I give compassion to my body.
I am on my body's side as we navigate this journey together.
I will let my body rest and I will let my body feel comfort.
I will let my mind rest and I will let myself feel comfort.
Now to close out this journey bring your palms to touch,
Hands in front of your chest.
Breathe in and exhale.
Thank you so much for joining me.
Always remember that the healing power of touch is right at your fingertips.
