Hello,

This is Lauren.

Welcome to the five koshas meditation.

The five koshas are sheaths,

Layers or bodies that make up the self.

Find either a comfortable seat or a place to lie down.

Allow the spine to be long.

Allow freedom through the body.

You might close or soften the eyes.

Send yourself gratitude for taking this time to meditate,

To relax,

To get to know the full self,

The full yogic body.

Bring your awareness to the physical body,

The first kosha,

Anamaya kosha.

Bring your awareness to your toes,

The soles of the feet,

Ankles,

Shins,

Calves,

To the knees,

The thighs,

The pelvis and glutes,

To the belly,

Ribs,

Chest,

To the back,

To the shoulders,

Upper arms,

Elbows,

Forearms,

Wrists,

To the palms,

The fingers,

The neck,

The jaw,

To the cheeks,

The lips,

The nose,

Eyes,

Forehead,

To the skull and ears.

Bring your awareness to the full body in space.

This is anamaya kosha,

Also known as the food layer.

Take a moment to send gratitude to the earth,

To food,

For making up the physical body,

Anamaya kosha.

Send your physical body gratitude for all that it does,

For the ways it functions,

That it allows you to connect with others,

For dancing and playing yoga,

For showing up.

Now bring your awareness to your breath and take deep breaths in and out of the nose.

As you breathe in,

Allow the belly,

The ribs,

The chest to expand outward in all directions.

As you breathe out,

Allow all those areas to soften inward.

This is pranamaya kosha,

The second layer,

Second sheath,

Second body,

The layer of breath,

Not just breath but of life force energy.

Feel yourself breathing in oxygen from the plants,

Breathing out carbon dioxide as you give it back to the plants.

Feel this symbiotic relationship with other living things.

Feel the energy that comes,

The energy that leaves.

Send gratitude to the plants,

To your breath,

This constant rhythm in your life,

This constant invitation to bring energy in,

To let old energy go.

Pranamaya kosha,

Breath layer,

Life force energy.

Bring your awareness to your thoughts.

Take a few quiet moments to observe the thoughts without judgment.

Observe the thoughts as you would clouds floating through the sky.

This is manomaya kosha,

The mind or thought layer.

Observe the thoughts.

And I invite you to harness the mind with mantra.

Very simply saying,

So hum,

Breathing in so,

Breathing out hum,

So hum.

This is manomaya kosha,

The mind.

Release the mantra and send your mind gratitude for helping you navigate life,

For being so interesting,

Complex,

Manomaya kosha.

Now bring your awareness to the space between the eyebrows,

The third eye as we explore vijnanamaya kosha,

Vijnanamaya kosha,

The fourth layer,

Fourth sheath,

Fourth body of wisdom,

Vision and intuition.

I'll ask a few questions and I invite you to allow the answers to come knowing that they are from your highest self,

Your highest intuition.

Why am I here?

What is my purpose?

What is my soul's path?

How can I trust more that my life is unfolding exactly as it should?

What energy am I vibrating?

What is my gift to the world?

Trust in your mind.

I trust my highest self.

I trust my highest self.

I trust my highest self.

Vijnanamaya kosha,

Wisdom body.

Now bring your awareness to your heart and invite a knowing of bliss emanating from the heart into all the layers of the body,

All around the body,

Vibration of bliss.

This is anandamaya kosha,

Your bliss body,

The body of moksha liberation of alignment with source,

A full knowing of your highest self and union with the present moment with unconditional love,

Beauty and lightness.

Allow yourself space and time to be in the bliss body.

Anandamaya kosha.

And take a few moments to send gratitude to these five layers.

Anandamaya kosha,

Your bliss.

Vijnanamaya kosha,

Your wisdom.

Manomaya kosha,

Your thoughts.

Pranamaya kosha,

Your breath and life force.

Anamaya kosha,

Your physical body.

In the ancient language of Sanskrit maya,

Which you'll see sandwiched between these words,

Anandamaya,

Vijnanamaya,

It means illusion.

All five of these layers are illusions,

Veils around the Atman,

The soul,

The highest self.

All the fabulousness,

The drama,

All that we go through in yogic tradition is a play,

Leela.

We're actors in this fantastic stage of life,

Sparks of the divine,

Sparks of the divine and play.

Allow yourself to celebrate,

Embrace and embody these layers knowing that the core of you,

Your innermost self is a light,

A light that this world so desperately needs to see your Atman,

Your soul,

Your divinity,

Your true bliss.

Take a cleansing breath,

Breathing in through your nose,

Out of your mouth.

You can let your eyes open and your body move.

Thank you so much for joining me for this kosha or yogic body meditation.

The divine light in me sees the divine light in you.

Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.

Om Peace,

Peace,

Peace.
