Choosing what and how we ground or root each day is a knowing of what foundation we will move with through the day. Grounding is the essential aspect of having a place for our energy to land. The inquiry we engage in this practice is: What are we trusting and how can we cultivate a trust that brings resiliency? This meditation was recorded live and background music is very low.

OK,

So we're going to do some grounding,

Some rooting today.

And I really practice grounding as a way of coming into our own system.

We might also draw on Earth energy,

We might also find other things to ground or root into,

But I'm really interested in how we can find that feeling of internal safety and presence and connection to ourself first.

And so,

Whether we feel like we need to draw in other energies or run other things through our body,

That's totally fine,

But we want to do it from coming in first.

So,

We're going to do some breathing that will take us in,

Open our heart system,

And then what we're going to look at grounding into today,

Having a foundation of trust.

What are we trusting,

And how can that cultivating the energy of trust inside of ourselves be a resilient foundation that allows us to buoyantly bob,

Or float,

Or swim,

Or even surf through life.

So,

We've got some foundation underneath us.

So,

I'm going to invite you to get comfy.

And then,

Firstly,

Just notice that you're breathing,

And notice what the breath is in this moment.

Maybe getting some awareness about the length and the depth and the softness of the breath right now.

You might invite that breath to deepen,

Or lengthen,

Or soften.

Allowing your body to be full of the breath,

And then to be empty of the breath,

As each moment is a beginning,

And each moment has an ending.

This fear of endings and beginnings often keeps us from our trust.

And so,

When we can just begin to recognize the natural cycle,

We can allow ourselves to work with it.

Notice your seat and your feet maybe dropping more weight down towards the earth,

Giving over to gravity.

Might even let go of needing to have good posture right now,

And just experience the spine in its surrender to gravity.

What if you did not have to hold yourself up?

What if your innate intelligence knew exactly how to stay with this animal body working in its full capacity?

Maybe notice the place between your shoulder blades,

Could it slide and expand,

Widen?

Maybe your jaw could lengthen?

Ah,

Remembering that the bottom of the jaw is not attached to the skull,

Except by a joint.

It's got so much freedom.

And then bringing your awareness to any parts of your body that might feel tight or stiff.

Imagining that you could send the breath right to those places to open and expand,

Release.

You might even choose to bring your hands to those places as well,

Letting the physical touch affirm the safety.

And then inviting all of the parts of you to come into this moment,

Bringing in the parts that got left behind or are locked inside a memory.

Just inviting those pieces to arrive.

Maybe the parts that are in front of you,

Into the future.

Invite those parts to come back in.

Can you just be with yourself in this moment?

I'm going to turn to you.

Okay.

To follow the breath right into the center of our heart,

Bringing our awareness into our chest.

So anatomically,

We're breathing the air in through our nose or our mouth,

But inviting our imagination to play here as we imagine what it would be like to bring that air in right through the center of the chest.

You can place a hand or two fingers in that spot.

Maybe getting extra playful and imagining the air could come into the back,

Through the back as well.

Centering your focus right here in the heart space.

What if,

With each breath that we bring in and release through this heart space,

We could open to the idea that we're cultivating trust?

What does trust mean to you?

For me,

It means connection,

Belief,

Support,

Surrender.

It means openness and boundaries.

It means I can stay here in this moment,

Allowing each moment to arise and arrive.

Noticing myself to navigate each wave,

Allowing some waves just to rush right by.

Noticing the waves I might swim into and dive deep,

The waves I might hop and ride.

I'm going to invite you to connect to your energetic spinal column.

Imagining right at your physical column that there is a column of light extending out the body,

Past the tailbone and the pubic bone,

And extending out the top of the head.

Noticing the strength,

The wisdom,

The beauty in this spinal column of light.

What would you like to place underneath this spinal column?

Maybe attaching it to the bottom where it moves out the tailbone and the pubic bone.

Maybe you love the image of roots,

Thick,

Beautiful roots like a tree.

Or maybe you want a golden bowl or chalice.

Or maybe it's a trampoline.

What would feel supportive for your central column?

What would you like to anchor into so that you could flow?

Where could you place your trust?

Get as playful and creative in telling yourself this story.

Painting the image and feeling the sensation.

Ah,

Okay!

And then imagining that you could look into your system,

To all four of your bodies,

Your physical,

Your emotional,

Your mental,

And your energetic bodies,

And just scan for any blocks to trusting those crunchy places of resistance.

You might see them as colors or textures,

Even sense them as vibrations,

Or see them as an image,

A symbol.

Work with whatever comes to you.

Then inviting yourself to create a geometric shape.

Might be a pyramid or a square.

Count the sides and notice the shape.

We're going to invite this sacred geometry to become the receptacle of our resistance,

The place to release our blocks into.

You might even place a magnet or a little vacuum cleaner inside your sacred geometry,

And just send it all around your system,

All around your bodies,

Letting it do a little cleaning and clearing.

Trying to stay playful and anchored in that imagination.

When you're done,

We're going to send it right down to the earth.

You might notice some more spaciousness or openness.

Taking your awareness back to your heart space and letting more trust arrive.

Inviting yourself to feel it as sensation or vibration.

Maybe sensing the color or seeing the color.

Some of you will be able to hear it singing.

They even have a particular smell for you.

Can you invite that trust to enter through the heart,

To ride up and down that energetic spinal column,

And then to fill up the whole body,

Filling out the bottom and the top of that spinal column,

And create a full bubble right around your system.

Invite you to begin to inhale through your nose,

If you aren't.

Bringing a slight pause at the top of the inhale,

Where you melt and open and arrive.

Exhaling through the mouth,

Maybe with an audible sigh.

Exhaling at the bottom,

Where you surrender,

Melt and arrive.

Taking that a few more times.

And opening yourself to experiencing the care that you've given yourself over the last few minutes of practice.

Noticing where that might anchor into your system,

The remembrance of true care and love and appreciation for yourself,

For showing up,

For leaning in,

For letting go.

As we begin to follow the exhale,

Forming up from the bottom,

Bringing some movement to that physical spine and that energetic spine.

Maybe some swaying or waving,

Curving and extending,

Whatever feels good and juicy.

Noticing the bottoms of your feet,

The backs of your wrists.

Ah,

The edge of your nose.

And setting your intention for how you'll carry your trust into your day.

Even with low sound of live recording this was a magical and powerful journey. I have never thought about grounding like this. I’ll be back to this again.
