So welcome friends and let's dive in.
Well hello lovelies.
How are you doing?
What's been going on for you?
I really hope you're doing amazing.
It's kind of funny.
Have you ever thought about how everyone can literally be amazing?
Like if I wish you to have an amazing day,
It doesn't mean I have less one now.
Nope.
We both literally can be amazing at the same time and there's no shortage of amazingness.
I love it.
It's just kind of a fun thought.
I guess because I was just thinking and noticing how some people you know believe success is limited.
Like we get all bent out of shape when we see other successful people as if their success means we now have less somehow.
I don't think it works that way though.
Anyways it's totally off topic but I hope you're doing well and are having an amazing day.
So today I wanted to talk about an awesome tool.
It's often called a future self journaling or just future journaling and I want to talk about what it is and why it's useful.
Plus I've got a free download for you so you can start future self journaling if it's something you'd like to do but I'll mention more about that later.
So let's dive in.
So future self journaling,
What it is is just a type of journaling.
You have an intention.
You have an objection.
You have an objective.
What you are trying to achieve with this type of journaling.
So writing has been shown to help the brain create new neural pathways which is totally awesome because anytime we can intentionally create new patterns in our brain that serve us better,
The better success rate we have especially with new habits.
So journaling is one way we can aid our brains to create new habits,
New thought patterns and also to direct our focus to see what types of thoughts come up.
Now I've noticed with my own journaling that there are different types of journaling,
Different ways that we journal.
So there's one I notice is more like log keeping where you write down the things that have been going on.
Maybe you're tracking something even like dream journaling,
Food journaling.
I mean there's literally you can journal about anything.
I just might.
I actually really like to keep logs about about things.
It's fun watching patterns.
But this type of journaling,
Self future self journaling,
It's not like log keeping.
So future self journaling is also incorporating the mind's ability to think about things that haven't happened yet,
To visualize them and daydream about them.
Now the amazing thing about visualization is that your brain doesn't actually know the difference between a visualization and reality.
Isn't that super cool?
So during a visualization practice,
Which you bring up while you're future self journaling,
You are able to visualize a future for yourself by emotionally putting yourself there inside your mind.
So you experience the emotion by putting yourself there mentally with the thoughts you'd be thinking,
And you can actually experience these same emotions of how you imagine your future self to be in the present moment.
So when you do this with journals,
Which is helping your brain create new and stronger neural pathways,
Or thought patterns,
You intentionally alter your future,
Because your thoughts create your life.
This is what makes this type of practice so powerful.
Future self journaling draws on the act of becoming aware of what you want,
Visualizing how it will be,
Experiencing that future in the present emotionally,
And then using that emotion to create your action and making it show up in your future.
Now again,
We can't control life or other people,
But we really don't need to.
It's the emotions after all that we really want to have.
So when we have the emotions,
It's the energy we need to take the action,
And with every action is reaction,
And so on and so on and so on,
Is a domino effect.
Future self journaling is a powerful tool to begin intentionally creating the future you want to have and experience.
It's a tool though,
My friends.
It alone doesn't create anything.
You must actively take action as the creator of your life.
But just as with anything we create,
Any artwork,
Any drawing,
Writing,
Anything,
Our peace always begins in the intangible universe of our thoughts until we bring it into this reality.
And I love that concept and action of being a creator.
It always begins in the mind.
So future self journaling is a simple practice to begin.
The keys to having it work for you is to do it consistently.
You also need to be honest with yourself.
No one else needs to read your journal.
In fact,
Not reading your own journal yourself is a pretty smart practice.
I totally recommend waiting at least a few weeks before you review the things that you've written.
So when you sit down to future self journal,
It's important to get in touch with what you want and why.
What really do you want?
Ask yourself.
And you're allowed to want anything,
So don't limit yourself.
Wanting is a good thing.
It's useful.
It serves us.
It drives us to pursue things.
If we don't want,
We become stagnant.
So want big,
Amazing things.
Don't believe the lies that you can't or that you don't deserve it or that it's just way too hard.
And maybe it is.
Maybe it's not something you want enough to put in the effort for it,
And that's perfectly fine.
But become aware of your true wants.
If you were on an island and no one else was there,
All your basic needs were met,
Such as food,
Safety,
And shelter.
Would you still want it?
Because that's a really good question.
The things we strive for sometimes aren't things we actually want.
We just buy into the story around us that we have to have it or XYZ will happen or XYZ somebody will think about you.
But we can't control what other people think and we definitely can't control the world around us.
So I have a free download for you if you'd like to have a guide to help you future self-journal.
