Sitting up nice and tall,
Just really elongating the spine and noticing how the body wants to be today and no matter where you are,
Maybe going outside,
No matter the temperature or whatever's happening in nature,
Just saying,
I'm going to go be with her.
And then situating yourself possibly by grandmother tree,
Moving the sit bones so that you can feel rooted,
Feel that you are also connected to the roots that are around you,
Under you,
Beneath the skin of the earth.
And today we'll focus on a practice of bringing the energy from the root system that you feel below you and bringing it up through the spine,
Through the root system of your own body and going up,
Spiraling up your spine to your head and out of your crown.
We'll just be spiraling up today.
You know,
So often we spend time from the mind,
In the mind,
And then going down this sort of top down experience.
And so the invitation is to ask the earth's support to go from the bottom up.
And just with an open awareness,
See what arises.
So as you breathe,
See if you can start your breath from the belly,
The lowest part of the abdomen.
And that's where you begin the breath.
And then when you exhale,
Feeling energy spiral up and out of the head,
So you're breathing in down low,
Making room in the belly,
In the womb space.
And then exhale,
Letting it move up and out.
Simply on the breath in,
Focusing on bringing in the energy of the earth into the body.
And just letting any tension melt away from any places in the body that you feel tension or gripping,
Just letting that go as you breathe out,
Noticing the solidity of mother earth holding you,
Rooting you.
With each exhale,
Allowing for yourself to root deeper,
Grow heavier in the sense of groundedness.
Noticing what it's like to spiral your energy from the earth all the way up the spine and out the top of the head.
Allowing for your senses to be turned on,
Your ability to notice to be turned up,
Slowing down the experience of sitting with yourself,
Sitting with the earth.
Perhaps what the colors look like behind your eyes.
How much can you notice?
Do you notice that the body wants to move,
Stretch,
Yawn?
Perhaps just listening to what the body needs or what the body wants,
Just tuning into what would feel good,
Serving.
And in the same way that we ask the body what the body needs and what would feel good and serving,
Perhaps we also listen to the messages that we're receiving from the earth.
From the roots below us about what they need,
What would feel good to them.
Listening to the birds.
Noticing how they take our attention up to this vast and magnificent sky.
Taking us off of the earthly roots and up into the atmosphere.
And perhaps playing with your attention as it rests with the earth and the roots and as it bounces up towards the sky,
The heavens,
The celestial bodies of our solar system.
And way,
Way beyond.
How do we stay rooted and get out of this smallness,
Of this human body,
This human experience,
And expand into this evolving,
Spiritual existence that we're all a part of?
What do the birds have to share with you today?
I hear the voice of my grandmother's calling me,
I hear the voice of my grandmother's song.
She says,
Teach them,
Be wise,
Grow and teach them,
Be wise,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen.
I hear the voice of my grandmother's calling me,
I hear the voice of my grandmother's song.
She said,
Wake up,
Wake up,
Child,
Wake up,
Wake up,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen.
I hear the voice of my grandmother's calling me,
I hear the voice of my grandmother's song.
She says,
Teach them,
Be wise,
Grow and teach them,
Be wise,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen,
Listen.
Noticing where your attention is,
Without critical judgment in any way,
Just simply an awareness of what's arising.
Remembering the value of being outside with our Mother Earth,
Our place of origin,
Whenever we feel and lonely,
Or even grateful and honored,
We can always look at the abundance around us in every blade of grass,
Every fallen leaf,
Every branch on the tree,
This abundance of air that fills our lungs.
And remember that the word thank you can be an action,
A verb.
Remembering to bring the energy from the Earth,
From the root,
Up and out the crown of the head.
Noticing that when our minds get really busy,
When we are in our intellectual brain,
That we can go lay down with the roots and connect with the winged ones to bring us out and up,
As we remember to say thank you.
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you.
