My friend, I think we have the definition of strength wrong. Most of us have learned that it is strong to keep it together, avoid vulnerability, put up walls or push people away, and struggle alone. I have learned the strongest people I know are also the softest. What if it's possible that you can set down what you are trying to carry alone And in that, you will be stronger. This meditation will help you remember softening is the very thing that will make you stronger.

This meditation is for you to remember that you can soften and still be strong.

I think that we have the definition of strength wrong or a lot of us forget that there is strength in the softening.

The strongest people I know are also the softest.

Allow yourself to get really still and prioritize your comfort.

Maybe that means you adjust or you grab a blanket.

What would make this moment feel really soft,

Gentle,

And supportive?

Begin by softening into your breath,

Slow,

Easy inhale through your nose,

Slow exhale out your mouth,

Slow inhale,

Slower exhale,

Soft and slow breath in,

Slow exhale,

Breath out,

Easing your way into this moment,

Softening in body,

Allowing your entire face to soften,

Your jaw to relax,

Feel gravity pull your shoulders down,

Feeling the connection between your sit bones,

Your legs,

And whatever is holding you.

You can soften here,

You can be here,

Breathe in,

Exhale,

Soften your mind,

Maybe just for this moment you don't have to be strong,

You can allow your mind to soften around all that is swirling within you.

You cannot heal if you pretend you are not hurt,

You cannot be strong if you pretend you are not soft.

Breathe in,

Let it go.

Is there a situation in your life that you are trying to be strong for?

Is there a part of you that is hardening?

Can you choose to soften instead?

Visualize yourself holding a box,

And within this box is everything that you are trying to stay strong.

Imagine the great weight,

You holding the box,

Your knuckles white because you are gripping so tightly,

Staying strong to hold and carry it all.

Visualize the struggle.

Now imagine taking an inhale and on your exhale you set the box down,

Freeing your hands,

Feeling the softness fill you right away.

My friend,

It is strong to put down what you are carrying,

It is strong to ask for help,

It is strong to let down your walls,

It is strong to be vulnerable,

Tender,

Seen,

Sensitive.

Can you feel your true strength here in the softening?

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

Just because you can do everything on your own doesn't mean you always have to,

And what a shame it is to mistake gentleness,

Sensitivity,

Vulnerability for weakness.

To be soft is to be strong.

To be soft is to be strong.

Breathe in,

Breathe out.

May you continue to soften,

To feel ease,

And within that may you recognize you are the strongest you've ever been.

Really notice how it feels to soften here,

In body,

In heart,

In mind.

Soften in to the softness a little more.

Place your hands over your heart if that feels okay,

And whisper to yourself,

It is strong to be soft.

It is strong to be soft.

Continue to welcome your softness.

Breathe in,

Let it go.

From my soft heart to yours.
