This meditation is for you to practice being really gentle and supportive towards yourself as you feel your pain.
So often pain is out of our control and when it comes our way,
It feels like our entire world.
It can really throw us off-center and cause a lot of stress.
In this meditation,
I hope to help you reconnect with your breath and soothe your nervous system and therefore you may find pain relief.
This is by no means a replacement for any medication or medical help.
Meditation is simply in addition to other ways that you can help ease your pain.
I know it might feel impossible to get comfortable and so in this moment,
Can you adjust and find a posture that does feel okay.
Maybe that means grabbing pillows or blankets.
Laying down or even stretching during this meditation.
Knowing that you can always adjust,
Begin to notice your breath.
Maybe it's short and shallow or maybe you've been holding your breath.
Start to breathe through the pain.
Inhale,
Big exhale out your mouth.
Breathe in.
Exhale.
Really,
Really sigh it out.
Inhale through your nose.
Exhale.
Instead of avoiding your pain and running from it,
See if you can turn toward your pain.
Just witness it.
Wherever you feel pain in your body,
Notice the ache or maybe a sharp pain.
And as you witness the pain,
You remember that you are not your pain.
You are simply the one feeling it.
This pain is just visiting and it's actually a beautiful reminder that you're alive.
Although it hurts so much,
You're alive.
Breathe through.
Inhale through your nose.
Exhale.
Imagine sending your breath to the space in your body that is feeling so much.
Send your healing breath,
Your healing energy to the space in your body.
Breathe in.
Let it go.
See if you can imagine relaxing every cell,
Every muscle,
Focusing on filling this space in your body with ease,
Relaxation.
Breathe in.
Send the breath there.
All of your loving awareness to this painful place.
Maybe noticing small moments of peace,
Of ease.
Breathe in.
Exhale.
My friend,
You will feel good again.
This won't last forever and your body is so resilient.
Continue to breathe,
Using your breath as an anchor.
If it feels okay to you,
Maybe using your healing touch to massage your neck or low back,
Your belly,
Your shoulders,
Your knees,
Whatever is in pain.
Giving yourself this healing energy.
Soothing yourself right here.
Breathe in.
Breathe out.
Noticing maybe a subtle shift.
Maybe the pain is not completely gone,
Of course,
And yet there's a little shift.
Feeling this pain move through you.
Whatever pain you are in right now cannot begin to compare to the peace that will one day find you.
You will strengthen in the most unexpected ways.
You will get through this pain and you will be different on the other side.
Slow breath in.
Exhale.
Feel this total relaxation.
Even just for a moment,
Imagining that you're floating.
Maybe on clouds or in a lake.
And you feel light and free.
No pain.
And you feel peace and relaxation.
Every cell in your body is still floating,
Yet grounded.
Coming back to your body right here.
Noticing where you do feel good.
Noticing where pain isn't pulling your muscles into contraction.
And instead there's a sense of expansion,
Opening.
Maybe your heart space feels open.
Maybe your arms,
Your fingertips feel good.
Just noticing the spaces in your body where you don't feel pain.
Holding on to the goodness that is still here.
Breathe in.
Exhale.
Softening.
You will feel good again.
In the meantime,
Take really,
Really good care.
One more deep breath together.
Inhale.
Let it go.
From my heart to yours.
Feel better,
My friend.
