My friend, we are on the same team with ourselves. Being on the same team means allowing ourselves to feel and hold our thoughts and emotions with non-judgment. We are the thinkers, not the thoughts. Hi friend this meditation is for you whenever you feel a wave of emotion come over you and you have enough awareness to realize that you'd rather avoid it you'd rather abandon the feeling or push it down or push it to the side so this meditation is to help you hold space and hold steady as you feel begin to turn inward and see if you can already bring in compassionate energy choosing to witness yourself for the first time with this unconditional love and acceptance as you just take a look maybe placing your hands over your heart your feeling space breathe in breathe out using your breath to guide you toward what feelings are asking to just be felt inhale exhale the first step in holding an emotion is recognizing what is there labeling what feeling or feelings are there within you saying hello to the anxiety the fear the sadness the grief the joy the excitement the ache what is it that you can say hello to what feelings can you turn toward and meet with complete non-judgment and loving awareness the second step to holding an emotion is validation whispering to your heart it makes sense to feel how you feel you are allowed to feel what you feel makes sense the third step is allowing these feelings to exist for as long as they need to as you feel them fully right here may you stay with yourself as you feel maybe wrapping your arms around you as you hug yourself as you support yourself maybe whispering to yourself I love you and I'm not going anywhere it is safe to feel breathe in exhale it is in solitude where we meet our true selves and in knowing ourselves we learn to love ourselves for how can we love what we have not taken the time to understand you right here spending time alone with your heart and your mind is allowing you to become understood and in doing so you remind your nervous system it is safe to feel take a slow breath in exhale continuing to soften into your soul and into whatever feelings are here maybe allowing yourself to cry it's a beautiful way to regulate your nervous system maybe inhaling through your nose exhaling with some sound do what you need to do to feel to release the heaviness my friend heavy feelings are not asking for your intervention they are asking for your attention when you come into full awareness of what you feel the feeling will gradually release itself you participate in your suffering when you take action to delay avoid resist or fracture that awareness of your feeling states and end up stuck beneath them you will probably feel really reactive when you start to pay attention when you become aware of each feeling that makes you uncomfortable you're going to want to jump to fix it or change or do something to make the feeling just go away the feeling is not asking to be put onto some physical form within the world but simply to be metabolized processed and eventually churned into an unconscious wisdom that will guide you forward in ways more powerful than you can even perceive from where you currently stand heavy feelings are not asking for your intervention they're asking for your attention author unknown breathe in slow exhale your feelings just want your attention my friend and what can be felt can be reasoned with and understood and therefore can be set free notice any subtle shift within you follow your breath in release it one more minute with you and your heart just sit with any feelings that are still asking to be felt take one more cleansing breath inhale big sigh you are a human being that is allowed to feel all the complex human emotions it's a gift to feel may you continue to give yourself permission to feel validate your heart and support yourself from my heart to yours

May I continue to give myself permission to feel all the emotions that I need to feel and not push them aside. Thank you for this beautiful reminder! I am in the midst of a move across country and I have been feeling a lot of emotions and was trying to hold it in. 💜
