Today,
We're going to explore the theme of going inward.
We spend so much time being pulled in many different directions by all of the noise of the outer world.
The activity of doing takes up so much space that we're unable to connect with ourselves,
Our inner light,
And our true nature.
In this practice,
I invite you to release doing,
If only for a short time,
And allow yourself space to simply be.
Now you might gently close your eyes or find a soft downward gaze.
I invite you to take a deep breath in through your nose and release through your mouth.
Take another breath in through your nose and release.
And one more deep breath in through your nose and release through your mouth.
And now you can allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm and see if you can bring your attention to your body.
You might simply notice the places where your body is in contact with your seat or with the ground beneath you.
You might gently notice how it feels to be supported by the earth.
You might even experiment with this sensation by allowing your full weight to sink into the surface supporting you.
And then notice the difference in sensation when you use some of your own energy to support yourself in lifting your spine and shoulders gently.
Notice the subtle difference of sinking in and also offering some of your own energy to support yourself.
Now I invite you to bring your attention to whatever sensations are present in your body.
Maybe you notice a tingling sensation in your hands or feet.
Maybe there's a part of your body that feels especially loud or maybe you're simply noticing the soft sensation of your breath and the gentle movement of your body with your in breath and out breath.
Whatever is most calling your attention,
See if you can rest there for a few moments,
Simply allowing yourself to be as you are.
If you notice your mind has wandered,
You can gently bring it back to this moment,
Noticing whatever sensation is most present for you now.
You might notice how when you bring attention to your sensations,
They are never static.
They're always shifting,
Growing,
Receding,
And shifting again.
You might notice that you experience many sensations at the same time.
You can choose to focus your attention on multiple sensations or allow it to rest on whichever sensation is loudest in this moment.
You are creating space for your attention to shift as your sensations shift.
This is a state of being.
There is nothing you need to do.
You are simply being present in your experience and creating space for your experience to shift.
There is no need to grasp on to a sensation or to try to figure out what sensation might come next.
You can simply be and allow your experience to unfold.
Now I invite you to take another deep breath in through your nose and release,
Remaining present with your inner world.
I invite you to simply notice what is here.
What did you notice about your experience today of going inward that you want to remember?
I invite you now to take some gentle shifts in your body,
Inviting movements,
And gently open your eyes.
Thank you for practicing with me today.
