Hello!
My name is Eden,
And I am a therapist,
Reiki teacher,
And meditation guide.
Now whether you've found this meditation through one of my Reiki courses or just through the web of life,
Welcome!
These meditations are intended to deepen your relationship to your intuition and gifts,
And facilitate an understanding of your own internal landscape.
Each meditation is also a tool that can be offered to yourself or a client,
So I invite you to notice what shifts within you before,
During,
After,
Beyond the meditation,
Cataloging the effects with words and feelings and sensations.
Just letting yourself take note.
Allow it to be personal and universal.
Let's begin.
Go ahead and just find a comfortable resting place,
Whether that's lying down or seated or standing,
Perhaps you're even walking.
No wrong way to be here.
Just finding something that's comfortable for you and letting yourself settle in.
Today we're just going to do a gentle body scan.
This cultivates awareness of self,
And also reminding us the power of our awareness that we cannot let anything go without first recognizing that thing,
Without first seeing or witnessing or holding that thing.
Just in the same way that we cannot learn anything until we recognize what we don't know.
So go ahead and bring your awareness to the very top of your head.
And perhaps you even notice now where on the top of your head you instantly went to.
Just noticing,
No judgment.
Letting even that small little action be personal.
And then we start to scan down the body,
Moving from the crown of the head down the face.
Releasing the space between the eyebrows.
Letting the eyes rest in their sockets.
And the cheeks fall down the cheekbones.
The space behind both ears relaxes,
Releases.
The nose is long on the face like the spine in the body.
And the jaw relaxes even more.
And maybe you gently tuck your chin to elongate the spine all the way through the top of the head.
And maybe you let the neck grow long without engaging the muscles,
But just asking for space here.
Not pushing the head away from the body,
But letting the muscles of the neck unwind instead to access that space.
And the shoulders move away from the ears.
And a wave of relaxation washes down that left arm all the way out through the fingertips.
And then the same down that right arm all the way through the fingertips.
Taking a breath into the upper chest,
Feeling the shoulders move away from one another.
And a second round of breath into the ribcage,
Watching the ribs open and close.
And a third round of breath low into the belly,
Belly button reaches to the sky.
And then to the spine.
And a wave of relaxation moves down the back and down through that left leg all the way out the sole of the foot.
And then down that right leg all the way through the sole of the foot.
Taking any final little moments of relaxation that you might need here,
Now.
To offer your physical body more space,
More of that relaxation.
Maybe this is the most relaxed you can ever remember being.
Let it be.
And that's one round of the body scan,
Ushering in intentional space and relaxation.
And now that we have this unwound baseline,
This blank canvas body that's relaxed,
That's open,
That's ready to let go and receive.
We usher in a second sort of body scan,
That instead of seeing what's here,
It has more of an invitation,
A question mark.
So instead of moving into purely the physical body,
We let this be a little more self-guided.
Just asking,
Where in my body is my attention being drawn?
What's there?
Maybe you notice some sort of internal texture or buzzing or sensation or warmth arising somewhere in the body.
Maybe you notice a tension in the back.
It only became more obvious having relaxed everything else.
Maybe you see a density,
A little shadow somewhere of some stuck energy.
Just letting your awareness kind of wander around your body,
Your internal landscape to see what's there.
Now that the physical body has relaxed,
What else can you find?
What else can you let in?
It's very common,
Especially if this is your first time doing this sort of body scan,
To feel like you're making something up.
And I invite you to consider that that is perfect.
Whatever comes up first is the answer.
Trusting yourself,
This is an act of self-trust and exploration.
Because you could be dreaming up one of a trillion different options in this moment.
And because of that fact,
The one thing that you are discerning inside of you right now deserves some weight.
Noticing whatever is here and then gently moving on to continue to stay open to what's moving through you.
Maybe a memory comes up or an emotion surprises you.
Tingling,
Heat,
Cold.
No wrong answers.
Taking just two more breaths here.
Having awareness of yourself as you are in this present moment.
What a gift to be this present with yourself.
To know yourself in this way.
And with that next exhale,
You can gently let your focus go.
Usher in a big breath.
And then ushering in some movement.
Maybe rolling the neck gently.
Maybe your hands go above your head.
Maybe you crack your toes.
Coming back to this body and all of the beautiful movements that can happen when we do let tension in too.
Thank you,
Thank you,
Thank you body for the multitudes that you offer us.
