We often exist in the space in front of our bodies,

Propelled forward in life by all that is out there.

To surrender is to allow ourselves to draw back from this forward movement,

This forward exploration in a way that feels natural and like it honors how life wants to move through you.

To begin,

I welcome you to take in a couple slower,

Deeper breaths at your own pace,

Gifting yourself a nice leisurely transition into our meditation.

Notice where you are right now in your body.

If we divided the body into planes,

And let's just speak about the plane in front of us and behind us,

With the center point being exactly through the middle of us,

In our body.

Where are you?

What plane are you on?

Where do you feel yourself?

It can be on any part of the body,

But what we're looking at here is where can you locate the center of where you are right now in your body?

Is it towards the front of your body,

Maybe the surface of the front of your body?

Or it might even be outside of your body.

What direction is up?

And if you don't quite know if you're doing it right,

That's fine.

Welcome the element of trust,

Which is necessary in this process of surrender.

And trust that you intuitively know whatever answer you come up with is right.

And sometimes you may find that there isn't just one point.

You might feel like you're being pulled in a couple different directions.

Another way to discern where you are in your body is if you're sitting.

Notice if you're slightly leaning forward or backwards.

And you might want to play around with shifting forward and backwards,

Just to even see where your natural center is to determine where you were.

And knowing that as we explore our body,

There's no need to do anything about it right now.

Except for perhaps maintaining that slower,

Deeper,

More comfortable,

More calming breath.

And now let's look at a different direction plane.

So we're talking about top and bottom planes now.

Where do you feel your energy is?

Where do you feel you carry most of yourself?

Is it mostly towards the top of your body?

Or would it be in the lower areas of your body?

Even in our fast-paced,

Forward-moving culture,

It's pretty normal to exist towards the front of ourselves and in the top areas of ourselves.

One way to think about it is like we're being pulled forward or like we always want to move forward in the direction of discovery and improvement.

And then we're using our mind,

Our beautiful,

Amazing capacity of thought,

To propel us forward.

So we're living a lot of the times in the top areas of our body.

Now what would it feel like if you gave yourself permission,

If you haven't already,

To let yourself drop backwards a little bit towards the back of your body?

Leaning back.

If you're lying down,

Melting into the ground.

And in this more reclined position,

See if anything shifts just by us changing our body position.

Even the act of gently tipping our head backwards is a beautiful signal of surrender.

Surrender into being held by master forces.

Trusting in the greater power of all of life to support you as you lean back,

As you melt down.

I invite you to also give yourself permission to sink downwards and allow more of yourself to settle into your lower stomach area,

Your legs,

Your feet,

Your seat.

Surrendering the weight of your body onto the chair,

The earth,

The floor.

Trusting that whatever you're sitting on or lying down on is holding you.

Seeing that in this moment,

We don't have to expend so much of our energy to hold ourselves up and forward.

We can surrender and be supported by master forces.

And now,

What would it feel like if we tap into the feeling of gravity,

The downward motion of gravity,

And surrendering to gravity?

Letting our shoulders be pulled down,

Letting our head be pulled down if that's appropriate.

Maybe playing with it a little bit and letting your hands and arms flop downwards.

And now we might even be in a position that doesn't even look like a meditation position.

Just knowing that we can also play with surrendering to the ever-present force of gravity.

And that can be a fun exploration,

A micro surrender that we can build into our days at times.

Just letting yourself fall into a little pile,

Feeling gravity hold you,

Surrendering to gravity.

And trusting that it won't be so strong it'll crush you and pull you down,

Right?

Gravity is this perfect force amount for us.

And in this space of embodied and true surrender,

I invite you to explore,

Breathing in a way that feels like surrender to you right now.

Allowing the motion,

The movement of breath,

The sound of breath to be like a prayer for surrender.

For some of us it might be heaving,

Deep sighs.

Or it might be light,

Content breaths.

Like we're all on that third day of vacation and we're just so happy with how life is.

And this is your space of surrender.

So if there's anything in your present life right now that you feel you would like to surrender,

I invite you to bring it out and let it go in this space.

Knowing that you are always supported by the forces of life,

By the earth,

By your body,

By gravity,

By your breath,

By your intuition,

Your inborn ability to discern where you are,

Where you're feeling,

What's for you,

What's not for you.

What needs to go?

What you can trust in.

And when you feel like you've reached a comfortable point of surrender,

Start to gently,

Gently play with your being,

Your energy.

And gently,

Slowly,

Patiently allow it to awaken,

Come forward,

Move on up as we prepare to transition out of meditation.

Notice how your breath naturally changes as I give you this direction.

It intuitively knows,

Your body intuitively knows to start awakening and getting ready to go back out into the world.

You might even be stretching right now or gently moving your body to awaken it.

If your eyes are still closed,

I welcome you to slowly,

Slowly open them up,

Noticing how you're constantly reorienting yourself as you welcome more and more sensory input back into your world,

More movement,

And how your body naturally rises up to meet it.

This is the beautiful dance of surrender and movement.

Honor your ability to surrender and to trust.

Excellent prerecorded guided meditation. I'll definitely be revisiting this one. Reminds me of Miss Eden Harmony's 'meditation warmup.'
