Hello.
I am truly happy that you have decided to spend some time for yourself with me today.
Many of us lead remarkably busy lives.
So much of our day is in rapid motion,
Running,
Going,
Thinking.
How very important it is to make time to find the silence,
The quiet space that dwells within each and every one of us.
Let us find that still,
Calm pool of consciousness that always exists inside of us.
Even when on the outside we may be feeling anxious or troubled.
Let's start by getting comfortable in a seated position,
On the floor or in a chair.
You can even lie flat on your back also.
To help our bodies begin to settle into this time together,
Let us start by taking some deep,
Slow breaths.
In a moment we will breathe in deeply through our nose and then breathe out in a slow,
Long exhale through our mouth.
Are you ready?
Let's begin.
Let's do another.
One more time.
Good.
At times when we feel lost in the world,
At times when we feel we are alone,
It is very comforting to know Mary,
The mother of God,
Is with us.
Mary accepted all the challenges presented to her during her life on Earth.
Mary knew the pain of losing a son.
Through it all,
Mary remained strong and devoted to God.
She put her faith in Him.
There are many documented accounts of Mary visiting people throughout history,
From Lourdes in France to Fatima in Portugal.
In all these visits,
We learn that Mary is here to help us,
Especially when we are most in need of her presence.
A 15th century prayer dedicated to Mary,
Called the Memorari,
Beautifully helps us to reach out to the Blessed Mother of God in times of anxiety and trouble.
I would like to pray the Memorari now.
Please just sit quietly and listen to the words.
Let this beautiful prayer settle you,
But at the same time awaken your spirit.
Trust that Mary hears the calls of help from all her children.
The Memorari Remember almost gracious Virgin Mary,
That never was it known,
That anyone who fled to thy protection,
Implored thy help,
Or sought thy intercession,
Was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence,
I fly unto thee,
O Virgin,
O Virgin,
My Mother.
To thee do I come,
Before thee I stand,
Sinful but sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word incarnate,
Despise not my petitions,
But hear and answer me.
Amen.
Always know that you can turn to Mary,
Especially at those times of your life when you feel you need someone the most.
Mary is here always.
