Welcome friends!
I'm so excited that you're here with me for this guided meditation called Cave of the Heart.
This particular meditation is one that I have facilitated so many times over the years.
It's usually the first centering meditation that I offer when I lead ceremony for groups of people,
And I'm excited to share this meditation with you today.
I'll invite you to begin this time together by taking a comfortable seated position that could look like so many things.
I just ask that you honor what your body is asking for in this moment.
Once you find yourself settled in a stationary position,
I invite you to now close your eyes and start to feel your breath.
Feel your breath with your body.
Feel your breath with your energetic awareness.
Feel your breath with the place inside you that knows and trusts that this breath is the life force keeping you going at every moment.
Begin to relax your upper shoulders and your neck.
Let the weight of your body begin to get heavy.
Begin to slow down your breath,
Taking a little bit longer to inhale.
And a little bit longer to exhale.
Allow the mental plane of your body to follow along with what the breath is doing,
Becoming steady,
Slowing down,
And quiet.
Notice the speed of your thoughts.
Noticing the emotional tone of your thoughts.
Maybe you imagine that your thoughts take some sort of shape within your mind space.
Perhaps they look like cars passing one another on a busy street.
And as you consciously observe them,
They begin to slow and perhaps even begin to fade into the distance,
Getting both smaller and quieter.
With every inhale,
And with every exhale.
From this place in the mental plane of each of our bodies,
We're going to take a downward journey in our vessel.
So imagine the internal you in the higher portions of your body.
Currently seated in the mental plane.
And I want you to take an internal journey down the back of your head,
The back of your neck,
Past your shoulders.
And this downward journey stops right at your shoulder blades.
These two sort of triangular shaped bones that meet each other at your spine,
That act like doorways to the heart.
And I want you to see your shoulder blades.
And I want you to feel into a sense of curiosity,
And a sense of anticipation,
And even wonder over what you're going to find when you step through the doorway of your shoulder blades,
And into the spaciousness of your heart.
Take a deep breath in,
And a complete breath out.
And then I want you to walk forward.
Perhaps your shoulder blades open for you,
Or perhaps you crawl underneath.
Whatever journey or path you take,
Simply go,
Enter,
And then begin to observe your surroundings once you make your way inside.
You might notice the actual anatomical heart here in this place.
Perhaps you see it,
Or you hear it,
Or you feel its rhythm.
But you realize there's quite an expanse,
Quite a spaciousness in this place.
And so you begin to explore.
Your eyes are adjusting to the darkness,
And you're starting to see lots of little details about this place that resides within you.
Keep breathing.
Keep exploring.
Take in all the qualities of this place.
This cave that you have just entered,
This home that resides within you,
What does it feel like to be there?
What do you see around you?
Is it an empty cave,
Or are there other objects,
Or beings of some kind?
Perhaps there's something here that surprises you and piques your interest.
Allow yourself to sort of follow down that little path or explore that object or that quality.
I invite you now to make your way to the center of this cave,
The central location where you can stand and turn a full 360 degrees,
And you can see the entire cave within your view.
You can see the ground of the cave below you,
And if you lift your head and look up,
You can see the ceiling of that cave.
I want you to allow yourself to be fully surrounded by it.
As you stand there,
You begin to hear something.
It's not clear what it is yet,
But you can hear something faint.
You can identify the direction that it's coming.
It starts to get a little bit louder and a little bit louder and a little bit louder.
Whatever it is you're hearing,
It becomes crystal clear what it is.
Do you hear it?
Can you identify what it is?
Can you see it?
There's a message in this place for you today.
Some kind of wisdom that this place wants to share with you.
Fully open yourself up to receive whatever this wisdom is here inside the cave of your own heart.
Fully open yourself up to receive whatever this wisdom is here inside the cave of your own heart.
Fully take in whatever the message is that's been offered to you in the quiet stillness of your heart.
Send out a message of gratitude to wherever that wisdom came from.
And then I want you to take a big breath in through your nose,
A complete breath out of your mouth.
And then just like that,
You're back in your body in the room that you're sitting in right now in this moment.
With your eyes still closed and the message that you received still sitting within you,
Holding it very much at the surface.
Remember that this cave dwells within you.
And this is a place that you can always return to.
In the time you need to.
In order to find quiet,
Stillness,
Guidance,
Or comfort.
Let's take a final breath here.
Place your hands over your heart.
Either palms touching in pranam or perhaps one palm stacked on top of the other over the center of your chest.
Bow your head down towards your heart space as a gesture of honor.
A gesture of love,
A gesture of grace.
As you're ready,
Lift your head,
Open your eyes and welcome yourself back into this moment.
Namaste my friends.
