Let's just spend some time quieting the mind,
Quieting our bodies as we just give attention to our breath.
Breathing slowly and just watching our breath go in and go out.
Watching our chest go up and down.
Feeling the rhythm that our breath gives to us.
Because breath gives life.
And as you today prepare for having a child,
Prepare for being a mother,
It's important to just be present right here,
Right now.
There are many phases of motherhood,
But one of the most important is just being well,
Just being happy,
Just being present for your child.
And having times for quietude,
Having times for peacefulness is a very important element of being a good parent.
And it's not hard to do.
We just have to spend time doing it.
And the way you can do it is through meditating,
Through being present with your breath right now.
And often what can be helpful in following your breath when you meditate is having a phrase to go along with it.
And with each breath in say,
I am.
And with each breath out say,
Healthy.
I am healthy.
This health is so important to being a good mother.
When we're healthy inside,
When we're peaceful inside,
Then we can be 100% present with our children as they grow up.
And part of the preparation to being a healthy parent,
I am healthy,
Is to have times,
Have moments of quietude,
Have times where your thoughts are still and you just flow with life.
The worries,
The concerns can just melt away.
And you can use this time now just to be present with your breath.
I am healthy.
Being still is often one of the best gifts a mother can give their child because when we're still,
We're able to be present with our child.
Children can sense our peacefulness.
They absorb it.
They feel the calm within us.
And that calmness is a beautiful way to go through life.
And as you now prepare for parenthood,
It's important to develop a peaceful approach to life so that when life has bumps,
You just get back to your calm,
Peaceful center inside.
Having times to be peaceful,
Having times for quiet is good for you.
Take the time now just to be.
When thoughts,
When worries come,
You notice them,
But you get back to your breath.
Just following your breath because your mind can only be on one thing at a time.
And by being present,
Just with your breath,
A peacefulness gently descends upon you.
And you are present with your breath and all your thoughts become still.
And in that stillness,
Your body prepares for being a mother,
For parenthood.
Thoughts don't get you there.
Peace is the best medicine to prepare for motherhood.
When you're still,
You allow your body to be healthy.
And in that health,
You calmly,
Peacefully prepare for the joys of motherhood.
All you need to do is give attention to your breath and just breathe.
