Breathe slowly,
Breathe deeply.
Breathe slowly,
Breathe deeply.
Breathe slowly,
Breathe deeply.
Breathe slowly,
Breathe deeply.
As you are preparing yourself for a wonderful night's sleep,
It's important to remember that all you have to do right now is relax and be present with your breathing.
What may happen is that thoughts,
Thoughts about other things that have nothing to do with your breath and being still may enter your mind.
When they do,
All you need to do is go back to your breath because right now that's the only thing in the whole universe that you need to be attentive to.
So if thoughts and worries intrude,
Just go back to your breath.
Perhaps thoughts may enter,
But what if I don't get enough sleep?
I might be tired tomorrow.
When those thoughts enter,
You realize that whatever happens tomorrow,
You'll be fine because right now all you have to focus on is your breath.
You're not trying to sleep.
You're trying to quiet the mind,
Which really is as good as sleep.
Quieting your mind is so wonderful for you.
And you may find that being present right here,
Right now,
Is all you really need to get through the evening.
And if all evening you get to be still and present just with your breath,
You'll find it to be a very relaxing and exhilarating experience.
Because when you wake up,
You'll find yourself very rested and relaxed,
No matter how little or how much sleep you received.
Relaxation is wonderful because it really allows your brain to go to the same place you go to every night,
A place of peace,
A place of relaxation,
Where there are no thoughts,
No worries,
Only here.
Only now.
And because you've committed to meditating on a regular basis,
You will reap the rewards of a good night's sleep,
Of sleeping soundly,
Of sleeping well,
Of a good night's sleep,
Of sleeping soundly,
Of sleeping well.
Good.
Go back to your breath again.
Just watch your breath because I'm sure it's going at a slow pace as you're in this very peaceful state.
Because when the mind slows down,
The body doesn't have to work as hard.
And even if you only get a few hours sleep,
Because you're allowing your mind time to relax at a break from the frenetic pace of a day,
You will find that this night's sleep is so relaxing,
So peaceful,
So healing.
Let go of those thoughts.
Try to come back in.
Don't be bothered by them.
Don't worry.
Just gently refocus your mind on the steady breathing of your breath.
You can perhaps feel your chest expanding,
Then relaxing.
Expanding,
Then relaxing.
The rhythm is so beautiful,
So peaceful,
So relaxing.
And each night you lay your head down for a very wonderful,
Peaceful sleep.
You will find that returning to bed and to your restful night will no longer be a challenge,
But instead a joy.
Peace.
