Hi,
This is Dr.
Elizabeth Pone.
And today I'm recording for you a face massage.
What I discovered in my private practice as a psychotherapist is that it's really good for people who are having some OCD with some neurological base,
Like skin picking and hair pulling.
A lot of those disorders need stimulation to the system.
That's what they're looking for when they do that often.
So a face massage can give you that stimulation while at the same time being soothing and relaxing.
You can do this sitting or lying down.
Either way is okay.
Just take the hands to the center of the forehead and let the fingertips meet the center of the forehead.
So you may have three fingers there,
Maybe four.
Just do what feels comfortable to you.
Now take a deep inhale.
And on your exhale,
Let the fingers separate and press firmly into the face and let them move down the sides of the face,
Past the ears,
Along the jawline,
And let them meet in the center of the chin.
Press into that little cleft of chin.
And then inhale on your exhale,
Take the hands separate and up the face again until they meet at the center of the forehead.
Inhale and let them separate again.
Come down the sides of the face,
Along the jaw into the center of the chin.
Inhale and press into the chin and surround the mouth.
Just trace the mouth until they meet two fingers above the mouth,
Right under the nose.
And then reverse that,
Letting the fingers separate,
Trace the mouth all the way around until they meet again in the little cleft of the chin.
And now let's separate the hands and let them come under the jaw.
Let's do some little circles here,
All along the jaw.
Good.
Let them move up towards the ears,
Right beside the ears.
And now let the fingers move around the ears,
Behind the ears,
Under the earlobe.
Again,
Pressing firmly,
Let them move down the jaw again until they meet at the center of the chin.
And now let's take those fingers apart and right under the cheekbones.
So this is a little bit higher than the first pass through,
But under the cheekbones,
Towards the sides of the eyes,
And let's trace over the eyebrows until they meet the center of the nose,
Right between the eyes.
And now reverse,
Press the fingers into the eyebrows firmly and trace the eye socket all the way around,
Over the eyes and under the eyes,
Until the fingers meet on either side of the nose.
And again,
Inhale,
And on your exhale,
Let those fingers come apart,
Trace the eye socket around the eyes and over the eyes until they once again meet at the center of the nose.
And again,
Inhale,
And on your exhale,
Let the fingers separate and trace the eye socket,
And this time a little bit bigger circle so that you're tracing the cheekbones once you get under the eyes,
Until the fingers come together on the sides of the nose,
Closer to the nostrils.
And then press into the cheekbones and trace the cheekbones up to the ears,
The sides of the ears,
And then reverse that and trace the cheekbone again to the center of the face.
And now let's take the fingers on either side of the nose and trace the laugh lines of the mouth all the way down to the center of the chin.
Reverse the fingers,
Let them come out,
And under the cheekbones pressing firmly and up to the sides of the ears,
And then reverse them and again press under the cheekbones until they meet at the top of the mouth,
Right under the nose.
And let them come apart,
Trace the mouth,
And let's go under the chin this time,
And under the jaw,
And press the fingers back towards the ears right under the ear lobes,
And then reverse and come back and take the fingers on either side of the throat and let them just go down the throat into the collarbones and across the collarbones.
And now let's pick the hands up on either side of the nose and again trace the eye socket to the corners of the eyes and then down the face once again to the center of the chin.
And once again along the jawline and then down the jawline,
Under the jaw,
Down the sides of the throat into the collarbones.
And you can rest here for a moment,
Just feeling how good that feels,
How the face tingles a little bit from the stimulation.
And then you can gently open your eyes.
