By imagining the perfect container to store and contain your anxiety, you can place it to the side so it's less overwhelming. You can actually reverse the stress response by activating your parasympathetic nervous system to settle the mind and body to feel safer. You are your own medicine.

I invite you to take a cleansing breath in and as you exhale gently close your eyes if that feels right for you.

Settling into this moment.

Striving in being where you feel you are right here,

Right now.

Perhaps it's been a little difficult truly being present in this moment.

Anxiety and uncertainty can pull us away from being truly present and that's okay.

I wonder if you would be interested in containing that unsettling thought or big emotion or feeling that keeps bothering you.

So first let's decide what it is for you that you need to contain.

What thought or feeling is it that you wish to put aside for today?

Because naming it tains it.

So what is that strong thought or feeling that you wish to contain today?

Okay,

So just allow the perfect container to effortlessly pop into your wise mind that will be big enough and strong enough to hold that thought or feeling.

It could be as small as a teacup or as large as Earth itself or anything else in between.

Great,

So imagine that perfect container in even greater detail.

And now how does that big powerful thought or emotion go in it?

And there's no wrong answer.

So just allow the thoughts and emotions to easily and effortlessly enter the container.

Just as easy as it is to fill a teacup filled with tea.

I'll leave you some time to completely fill up your container and allow everything that needs to go inside to safely fill up inside.

Beautiful.

So just sense that thought and emotion being completely contained in that perfect container of yours.

It's no longer a part of you or defining you.

And what do you notice in your body now?

Great.

Now just see if there's anything else that you need to feel that the thought or emotion is safe and completely stored in that container.

And you're creative.

So if you feel that you need an extra barrier of protection,

You could put a lid on it,

Or even put that container on a shelf.

Even putting a lock on it.

Or you can have a special being as your guard.

The choice is yours.

And now really sense the thought or emotion inside the container.

It's safely there.

And what are you noticing in your body now?

I wonder if you feel a little lighter and less weighed down.

And you can take another cleansing breath in and even let out a sigh,

A signal to your body and mind that it's at peace now.

Breathing in calm.

Breathing in clarity.

Breathing in freedom.

And know that you can always come back to this container and retrieve that thought or emotion at another time when it's most helpful for you.

Knowing that you are more than a single thought,

A single emotion,

Or even a single event.

And you can let go of heavy and unhelpful thoughts or feelings easily and effortlessly by visualizing them going into a perfect container.

So you can become more present and free.

And truly be present wherever your feet are.

It's a great job.

And whenever you're ready,

You can open up your eyes,

Stretch back into the present moments,

Maybe wiggle your fingers and toes.

And just notice the shift in your body and mind.

Letting go and putting aside that thought or emotion.

Being fully alert,

Present,

And refreshed now.
