Today's insight is number 42,
Our deepest expression.
It's all about how to connect with the deepest parts of ourselves in order to connect with the spiritual world.
This is excerpted from my book,
Beyond All Things,
50 Insights to Awaken Joy,
Purpose,
And Spiritual Connection.
Insight 42.
In acknowledging the infinite,
We cultivate appreciation,
Awe,
And wonder of that which has brought us into being and is sustaining us in all moments.
How can we express these deep feelings?
How can we utilize our thoughts,
Speech,
And action to connect with the infinite?
When we focus our minds and hearts upon the infinite and simultaneously tap into our deepest longings and most heartfelt appreciations,
We're building bridges to the spiritual world.
Speaking to the infinite is a quest to align the deepest depths of our minds and hearts to the most abundant,
Peaceful,
And loving will that we can imagine.
These conversations have the power to peel back the veil of daily living and uncover concealed miracles.
While initially it may feel unusual to be speaking out loud and not to another person,
Speaking to the infinite can be a healing,
Clarifying,
And even enlightening practice.
We can speak to the infinite as though it is an all-loving caretaker who loves us unconditionally and has invited us to the most sacred and beloved of celebrations,
Life in the universe.
As a human being subjected to systems of punishment and reward created and utilized by other humans to control behavior and manipulate experiences,
It may be challenging to transcend seeking approval and acceptance from other people.
If you are conditioned as a child to relinquish authority to the adults in your life,
As most children have been,
It can be difficult to hear and acknowledge the voice of the infinite that speaks from within.
What were your dreams as a child?
Were they taken seriously or were they laughed at?
Were they nurtured or were they doubted?
In recognizing the way that your childhood idealism was received by the authority figures in your life,
You may come to an intellectual understanding of the way that you may be approaching the infinite.
The past does not have the power to dictate your present or your future,
Yet it may be able to provide you with the insight to recognize the ways in which your inner voice may have been put to sleep by your surroundings.
If you can recognize how your voice of truth has been quieted,
You can also visualize and create the surroundings in which it will be awakened.
In quieting the noise of your surroundings and beginning to speak to the infinite,
Who wants only to shower you with abundant blessings to fill your unique mission in life,
You can awaken the voice that may be sleeping.
You can pour your heart out at any moment.
The infinite knows your thoughts.
It knows your heart.
It is we who are working to awaken our knowledge and in our efforts to connect,
We're moving closer to that knowing.
In pouring out our hearts,
We uncover the pure seed and the voice of clarity which has been planted within us.
The Grow Your Insight practice for insight number 42.
Speak to the infinite.
What would you like to say?
My note to you about this episode,
Looking back and thinking about this insight that I wrote,
I think it's really important to consider the ways that you related to authority figures in your childhood.
And the reason why this is so important is that we learn to feel safe by adapting to the caretakers in our lives.
So we come to see reward and punishment or the ways that we've been treated just as we see the way that our creator is relating to us.
And I think in a time when so many people have lost connection to this idea of the G word,
Right?
Whether you're going to call it God or the universe or connection,
Is this thought that we're being rewarded or punished by this being.
And the purpose for this exercise and the purpose for this insight is really letting go of that idea.
And it's learning to see that life is not happening to you.
Life is happening for you.
There's an incredible healing process that we can go through in order to make peace with some of those parts of our past that may be overshadowing our ability to see that life is for us.
We can look back over different experiences that have happened in life and express our emotions about how those things may have hurt us.
So one thing that you can do is write a letter to an authority figure in your life who may have used punishment as a form of control to you.
So it could be a teacher or it could be a parent pick something that's not too traumatic,
Pick something that you can really work through on your own and write them a letter and tell them why it hurt you and how you feel.
When you finish that letter,
Pause,
Give yourself a few days,
And then write a new letter to that person,
Thanking them for everything they taught you.
Perhaps they taught you what you don't want to be like as a human or as an adult in this world.
Perhaps they taught you about your inner resources.
Whatever they taught you,
Making note of those things and learning to see them as gifts for you,
Not just things that happen to you,
Can widen the way that you experience everything else that's happening to you in life and train you to have a good eye and see how life can be benefiting for you.
Instead of asking why me,
We can learn to ask what now.
Those are some of my favorite words from Dr.
Victor Frankl who talks about finding meaning and finding purpose in our lives and how powerful that can be.
I'm so happy that you joined me here for this insight and I hope it was valuable for you.
Take a moment to complete the exercise,
Speaking to the infinite,
Saying whatever it is that you want to say and pouring out your heart and knowing that in processing your feelings and your thoughts and putting your words out into the universe,
You're connecting with the deeper parts of yourself.
