Science shows that the heart communicates to the brain more than the brain communicates to the heart. In this meditation, we're bringing our attention to our heart so that we can connect with the energy and compassion it has for life.

Today,

We are going to consciously lengthen the breath.

You can put one hand on your lower belly and allow the breath to enter you slowly,

Fully,

And as it does,

Sending a signal to your brain that this is your time.

This is your time to simply be,

To let go of anything that may have been pulling on you earlier,

Anything in the future.

This is your time to relax here and now.

Allowing that breath to fill you deeply and exhaling slowly and completely,

Lengthening the exhale.

Today in our meditation,

We're going to bring our attention to the space around the heart.

There is a beautiful,

So many beautiful ideas in ancient traditions about the heart.

And more recently,

There is scientific research showing us that the heart communicates to the brain,

In fact,

More than the brain communicates to the heart.

The heart is an incredibly powerful,

Powerful body within us.

And simply by bringing our attention to the heart,

We can increase our dynamic intelligence.

And so today we're going to connect with the energy of the heart,

Which is compassion.

Compassion for all of life,

Not a pity or a sympathy,

But an understanding that every being has been created in complete worthiness,

That every being has needs,

That every being has needs,

And every being has strengths.

And we're going to focus on this area and consider for a moment anyone who you'd like to send some compassion to right now.

You can consider someone that's easy for you to love,

And send them compassion and care.

May you be safe.

You can consider someone who perhaps you don't know as well,

Someone who you feel neutral about,

And send them that same compassion and care.

May you be safe.

And we can extend that compassion even further to those that we do not know,

Or those who may be harder to care about,

Harder to share compassion with.

And yet the heart in its infinite wisdom acknowledges that all beings can change.

Considering this person or these people,

We can send them love and compassion and love and compassion.

May you be safe.

And we're going to turn within for a moment,

Sending yourself that love and that compassion,

Considering your strengths as well as your needs,

And giving yourself that same care.

And may you be safe.

Holding onto this feeling of care for yourself and for all beings,

We're going to bring this love,

This compassion,

And this energy back into our circle today,

Because today is all about exchanging compassion.

Today is the day that we begin to teach.

So when you're ready,

You can take one last breath and invite the calm,

Invite the safety,

And invite the connection to come with you.
