Join me in this meditation and prayer where we're tackling the systems, people, and circumstances that have kept our voices boxed in for too long. We're pulling inspiration from Iyanla Vanzant's book "Trust" and pushing back on all that's tried to quiet us down. Picture a golden drink giving you the strength to speak up loud and proud. By the end of this, I want you to feel that Aries fire, be ready to let your voice out, no holding back. This is about finding and rocking that real voice inside you. That voice is sacred and holy. I hope you get what you need. Background Music By: Hanna Lindgren Waking from a Dream

Iyanla Van Zandt in her book Trust says it is violent to withhold information that is required to keep peace in any given situation and similarly I say it is violent to withhold your truth when it is required for you to share it for you to have peace in any given situation.

We create a violent landscape within ourselves when we don't give ourselves the space and grace to speak up for ourselves.

That large pit sitting in your throat can only be removed by releasing the words sitting on your heart.

I pray that in this meditation you get everything you need and I pray that it first serves as a gentle greeting from me to you,

An audio hug because I would hug you in person if I could,

And then an apology.

It is my duty to start this meditation by apologizing to you for the ways the world has led you to believe that what you say does not matter.

I am so sorry baby because it do,

It does matter.

Whatever you have to say means the world.

I take this moment using the power of my words,

The power of my tongue to speak against the people,

The circumstances and the conditions that would continue to stifle your voice.

I pray that you would be taken far away from circumstances and situations that do not nurture you,

That do not nurture your holy voice,

That does not nurture your individuality.

And I want you to take this moment to thank yourself for your dedication to your well-being.

I want you to thank yourself for turning on this meditation.

I want you to thank yourself for seeking out ways to empower your inner voice,

To strengthen what you have to say.

I want you to breathe in,

And when you breathe in,

I want you to picture that this breath is going deep into your belly and attached to this breath,

This oxygen that you are breathing in,

A little strings of gratitude floating in the air,

A gift from God to you to just breathe in.

And to help you in your visualization,

I want you to give a color to these little strings of gratitude.

And as you breathe in,

This gratitude integrates with the oxygen flowing into your body.

The oxygen turns the same color as the gratitude.

That gratitude and oxygen,

I want you to picture it going into your bloodstream,

And then picture it flow everywhere that your body needs.

Picture it going to your brain to help you think about the words that you want to say.

Picture it going to your throat.

It goes to your throat to help you to speak the words that come to your mind that need to be said.

The blood flows to your feet to help you to stay grounded,

Even if your voice shakes.

Picture your blood filled with gratitude going to every corner of your body.

It flows through you like a steady river,

Constant,

Consistent,

Ever flowing.

I want you to begin to picture yourself holding a mug.

Right now,

This mug is empty.

There's nothing in there.

And I want you to start crafting an image of the mug in your head.

I want you to picture how big it is,

How wide it is,

How the handles look.

I want you to picture the colors of the mug.

However you want your mug to look,

Picture it now.

This mug represents you,

So give it some personality.

And as the imagery flows into your head,

I want you to begin to feel the weight of the emptiness of that mug in your hand.

It's a little heavy.

It's not a light hold.

Notice all of the space,

The big void inside of it,

Much like the silence that you've been holding within you.

It doesn't do anything for this cup.

This empty mug represents the space that you have not yet filled with your voice,

Your opinions,

Your needs,

Your wants,

Your desires,

Whatever that you need to say.

I want you to stare at it for a while.

Take a deep breath in.

And now I want you to picture a golden,

Warm,

Liquid,

Whatever you like to drink,

Beginning to fill this mug.

This golden liquid,

It represents your inner wisdom,

Your courage,

Your truth,

And I want you to picture it rising really slowly,

Filling the mug gradually from the bottom and slowly moving its way towards the brim of the cup.

As this mug fills,

I want you to start to feel a sense of peace and strength flooding your body.

Notice how you,

Like this mug,

Become filled with the essence of your own worth and power.

Notice how the liquid comes from inside of the mug.

It doesn't come from outside of.

It doesn't come from other sources.

The power came from inside that mug.

I want you to look down in the cup and begin speaking life into this liquid as it fills your cup.

Repeat after me.

My voice is my divine gift and I choose to honor it.

My voice is my divine gift and I choose to honor it.

I am divinely guided,

Ancestrally grounded,

And my voice is a vessel for wisdom and great sacred truths.

I am divinely guided,

Ancestrally grounded,

And my voice is a vessel for wisdom and great sacred truths.

I want you to speak life and add your own sentence of encouragement to this cup as it begins to get closer to the brim.

Just speak one affirmation,

Or many if you decide,

Into your cup.

Encourage yourself.

Encourage yourself now and repeat whatever affirmation you just spoke into your cup out loud in real life.

And now I want you to repeat it again out loud,

But this time in a whisper.

And finally,

I want you to repeat it once more,

But this time silently in your heart.

I want you to picture yourself bringing the mug to your lips and take a sip,

Take a sip.

Visualize these words that you just spoke of courage,

Of strength,

Of divine connection,

Of ancestral wisdom flowing from the mug down your throat,

Integrating into your being.

Every sip you take is a declaration,

A promise that you make to yourself to honor your voice,

To share your truth even if it's unpopular,

To trust in the wisdom inside of you,

And a commitment to try again when you don't do all of those things.

I want you to feel how the liquid warms your throat,

Loosening that hard pit that was once there.

I want you to feel it melting away all of those hesitations and those fears,

And even if some of them stay,

I want you to continue drinking knowing that you have what you need to say what you're going to say.

I want you to take a deep breath in,

Breathing deep into your belly,

Supporting your good.

See your body filled with so much gratitude,

So much courage,

So much divine energy that flows through you,

That is ready to flow out of your mouth.

Breathe in,

And on your exhale,

Release any remaining tension in your throat,

In your body,

And I want you to picture yourself standing up,

Holding your now,

Once again,

Empty mug as a symbol of your commitment to fill yourself up,

To search inside for what you need,

To speak your truth,

To break the silence,

And to fill every empty space with your voice and your truth.

Visualize yourself walking over to a shelf in your mind's eye,

And I want you to place that mug there,

Knowing that it'll be there for you to return to,

To speak life into,

To remind yourself that there is a source inside of it that encourages you,

That stands ten toes down beside you,

Behind you,

As you move forward and share your truth.

Take a deep breath,

And when you're ready,

I want you to open your eyes,

Carrying the imagery that we just went through,

Carrying the affirmations that we just went through.

Picture them in your reality.

May this meditation be a turning point for you,

A step towards honoring the unique voice that only you can share with the world,

The unique voice that we need.

Know that you are worthy of your own gifts.

Know that you are worthy of your own advocacy.

Know that if your voice shakes or trembles,

That just keep telling the truth,

That that tremble is just the truth rumbling out of your belly.

You got this.

I so believe in you,

And I so believe in your ability to get through this,

To share your truth,

To speak your truth.

And as we close this meditation,

Let's just close with a prayer.

God,

I thank you for this moment where we get to breathe,

Remember who we are,

And remember how powerful our voice is.

This world tries to disempower us at every moment,

Tries to make us feel so odd,

So strange,

For having feelings and for wanting to respond to them.

And in this moment,

I pray that you would help us and guide us and remind us of our humanity,

Remind us of our right to feel,

Of our right to express,

Of our right to be in community with people who hold our words,

Who hold our feelings,

Who hold us.

Whether we have the perfect thing to say or whether we have it thought out in a beautiful way,

I just pray that you would surround us and keep us in close company with folks who encourage us to share our truth,

Encourage us to be brave,

Encourage us to find out what we want,

What we desire,

Encourage us to understand the truth about the questions in our soul.

And even if community,

If other people are not accessible to help us to understand and affirm that our voice matters,

God,

May you be a loud,

Roaring voice in our head so that we can serve as that reminder,

So that we,

As the scripture says,

As the gospel song that I love,

And I can't think of the artist right now,

Says,

Encourage yourself.

Empower us to encourage ourselves to speak our truth.

I thank you for these things in the name of Jesus,

Of my benevolent ancestors,

And whoever else you pray to pray for.

I thank you,

And I hope you got what you needed.

“Thank you” does not begin to cover the level of gratitude I feel for your intentional, wise, and grounded words and energy. This visualization was creatively divine and divinely creative. Thank you for the message that the tremble when speaking comes from the truth in our gut, our core, our lineage.
