Dear creative mind,
Welcome to this meditation practice.
Today we are welcoming abundance and challenging the starving artist myth and all the ways we cultivate a lack mentality.
You can practice this meditation in any way,
Shape or form that feels right for you today.
Walking,
Sitting,
Lying down.
Take a moment to settle into your body.
Take a moment to drop into this moment,
Here and now.
And let's begin.
Take a deep inhale through the nose and release it.
Just connecting with the breath.
Then inhaling through the nose,
Filling the lungs and slowly exhaling.
Feeling the temperature of the air as you inhale.
And noticing the difference as you breathe out.
Relaxing now on this ocean sound.
Letting it relax you deeply.
Letting your breath soften any place where you may be feeling tension.
Relaxing the muscles of the face.
Relaxing the forehead.
Relaxing the jaw.
Relaxing the tongue.
Dropping the shoulders.
Letting your hips be heavy.
And grounding all the way down through the feet.
Now I'll ask that you imagine a golden cord or maybe the roots of a tree going down from your sacral chakra to the center of the earth.
Grounding you.
Feel the connection from the base of your spine down,
Down to the center of the earth.
Feel yourself being entirely supported and held.
And then I'll ask that you draw energy up from the earth,
Up through the cord or through the roots.
Taking in this grounding energy.
And then releasing anything that does not serve you through the earth.
She knows how to take care of it.
And drawing up what you need.
And releasing what you don't.
And one last time,
Breathing in through the cord or through the roots.
And letting it go.
Beautiful.
As you continue breathing mindfully,
Feeling connected to the earth,
Feeling grounded,
You may want to take a moment of gratitude for the earth and her gifts.
For all the ways she nourishes you.
And all the ways she supports you.
And maybe you also want to take a moment to bring to mind all that you are grateful for in your life.
Taking in gratitude now.
And exhaling out love.
Now on every in-breath,
I'll ask that you inhale something that feels good to you.
Something that you need.
Maybe kindness,
Compassion,
Courage.
Maybe there's a word that comes to mind or maybe it's an image.
Focus on how this energy nourishes your body with every breath.
Fill yourself up with what you need.
With what would feel good right now.
Let your inhales recharge the parts of you that need love,
Kindness,
Courage,
Compassion or whatever it is you need right now.
And as you do,
Notice how it may change your posture or maybe the rhythm of your breath.
Now I'll invite you to use your exhales to send compassion,
Kindness,
Love,
Courage to someone that may need it.
So directing your in-breath to yourself and your out-breath to someone else.
Receiving and giving in harmony with each other just like the inhale and exhale of your breath.
So imagine that with every inhale,
You become a little more of yourself.
And with every exhale,
You're releasing a bit of the person you want to be into the world.
You're sharing the energy you want to inspire.
And now feeling the harmony of this beautiful cycle.
We often neglect our own needs for the benefit of others.
We pour our heart and soul into our work and the people we're here to support.
But without the counterbalance of receiving,
We can find ourselves burnt out and depleted.
I want to remind us that we cannot pour from an empty cup.
We cannot create change from a place of burnout.
We cannot watch the flowers in our garden bloom effortlessly when the soil has been deprived of nutrients,
Of water and sunlight.
So as you continue breathing in for yourself,
Inhaling what you need and pouring your out-breath into something meaningful to you,
Trying to see if you can make the inhale and exhale equal,
Finding balance.
As creative minds and sensitive souls,
We may carry with us certain narratives around money and our ability to receive it.
We may also believe that over-giving is how we can truly help someone or that we have to support others to the point of burnout to prove our worth.
But being of service to others does not mean being of disservice to ourselves.
We cannot starve in order to feed others.
We cannot expend our mission when we keep ourselves small.
We have to remind ourselves that being compensated for our soulful work is not wrong,
It's needed.
Money is neutral energy that allows us to be more of who we are.
It amplifies our essence.
And this energy,
Just like anything else,
Is influenced by the beliefs,
The thoughts,
The emotions we carry around it.
I want us to remember that what we focus on expands.
What do you wish to see expand?
And what may you need to focus on?
I'll stay quiet for a moment as you reflect on this.
Beautiful work.
So whenever you're ready,
You'll bring back movement into the body,
Start becoming aware of the sounds around you,
The temperature of the room.
Take all the time you need to close your practice today.
Thank you for sharing this time with me.
You're welcome to save this meditation and come back to it whenever you need to anchor yourself into abundance and remind yourself that your art is deeply valuable.
