Dear creative mind,
Welcome to this spring cleaning meditation to help you declutter your mind,
To help you find mental space,
Clarity and peace.
Make your way to your comfortable position today.
Maybe you want to sit comfortably on a chair or on the ground.
Maybe you want to lie down on your couch or your bed.
Ask yourself what would feel supportive for this meditation.
There's no right or wrong.
When you get there,
Take a moment to connect with your breath.
Feeling the rise and fall of your chest.
Feeling the temperature of the air.
Breathing behind your throat,
Behind your heart space.
Inhaling your breath down into your belly and slowly letting go,
Releasing.
Inhaling again,
Bringing the breath down to your toes.
And exhaling,
Letting the shoulders drop.
Let's take a moment to connect with the body.
First by noticing the points of contact with the surface you're sitting on or lying on.
Feeling deeply supported.
Feeling held.
And getting curious about any place where you may be holding tension.
Using each exhale to soften.
Releasing tension.
Relaxing.
Beautiful.
Now I'll invite you to bring your awareness to your headspace.
Noticing how it feels.
Noticing any sensation.
And imagining this space as a big room.
How would this room look and feel like if it was a representation of your mind right now?
Is it bright and spacious?
Is it messy and unorganized?
What can you see?
What can you hear?
Maybe there are some thoughts floating around.
Some beautiful ones.
Another thought that may have been occupying your mind for a while.
Just taking up space.
Maybe weighing you down.
So let's do a spring cleaning together.
I want you to grab a broom or a vacuum if you prefer.
And I want you to do a thought inventory.
So what's present in your mind today?
Just noticing the thoughts pop up.
And with each thought,
I want you to welcome it with curiosity.
There's no need to judge.
And I want you to ask the thought,
Do you still serve me?
Is there something I still need to learn from you?
Am I ready to let go of you?
And if this thought does not serve your highest and greatest good today,
I want you to clear it away with a broom or the vacuum.
I want you to dust off the shelf of your mind.
And as you clear it away,
Take a moment to show gratitude for this thought.
Just thanking it for serving its purpose,
For sharing its wisdom.
And let it go.
I will remain quiet for a few minutes so that you can examine the thoughts that may be clogging your mind.
Again,
Asking each thought,
Do you still serve me?
Is there something I still need to learn from you?
Am I ready to let go of you?
And clearing it away,
Thanking it for serving you.
Beautiful work.
So once you've cleared away your room,
Keeping only what you do need for today,
I'll invite you to take a look at this room again.
How does it feel now?
Open the curtains,
Open the window,
Let the sun shine in.
Feel the breeze enter the room.
And then,
Go sit in the middle of the room and spend some time connecting to the open space you've created in your internal world.
Today you've created space for new things to grow.
And take a moment now to welcome in fresh new thoughts that can serve you best today.
As we wrap up this meditation,
Take a moment here to let the nutrients of this practice sink in.
When you're ready,
You can open the eyes gently.
I hope you enjoyed today's meditation.
Feel free to come back to it whenever you need to declutter your mind.
