Over 15 days, Jay will walk you through specific practices that will support you in dealing with the stress of unpredictability and isolation in these times. They will help you wind down, build immunity, and create a state from which you are more resilient with whatever life throws at you. Resilience doesn’t mean that you’ll be happy all the time, but it does mean you have the energy, the mindset, and the spiritual support to weather the storm.

Welcome to day 15,

The final episode of Developing Resilience.

This is a practice of using meditation to re-center yourself at times when you feel powerless.

Rather than struggling with your thoughts,

Embrace them and investigate them to find out more.

Drop into yourself using your breath.

Breath is an easy vehicle to turn your attention from what's going on in the world outside to what's going on in the world inside of you.

Take in some deep,

Comfortable breaths.

If you're able to breathe right now without a ventilator,

You should be grateful as there are hundreds of thousands of people who cannot.

Notice breathing is life happening on its own.

You don't need to force anything.

And if you are breathing right now,

There is more right with you than wrong.

So let us pour energy into what's going right in life.

There is a signal that tells you how wise or unwise you are in your way of meeting what may happen.

If you react emotionally to any external situation,

Person or event,

It is a sign that you're trying to control what you can never control.

Any reaction usually means there is some resistance and therefore an absence of acceptance and therefore a wish to control.

All events are usually in the past and more often than not involve other people and the two things in life that cannot be controlled or changed are the past and other people.

This is probably why almost any reaction in life other than dodging the tiger in the jungle is a waste of time and energy.

We seem to know this when we remember how much more effective it is to measure and create a positive response than it is to emotionally react.

Moving away from reaction to response has to be something you can practice almost every day,

Almost everywhere.

The truth is you cannot control anyone or anything at any time nor any object more than three feet away.

So why even bother?

Why the habit of resistant reaction?

It's just learned and can therefore be unlearned if you so desire.

Notice this on the screen of your mind,

Transforming reaction to response.

Practice a scene when you reacted and see how you would offer a measured response.

With such checking and changing,

There will be no more struggle.

Now see yourself walking down the path of life.

Bless your future self with the power of acceptance and lightness.

See the path of life light up into the future,

Free of any struggle.

Notice how you feel right now.

Jay thank you at 61 I still try to control and manage outcomes always based on emotion ( and denial) .The timing of listening to lesson 15 was uncanny. Am in the middle of emotion based reactions as opposed to response . I hope I can recover and change . Am grateful you took the time to develop and share this .
