I want to invite you to take a moment and allow your eyes to softly close.
Sit in a way that feels comfortable for you,
Yet dignified and upright.
Today's meditation is a meditation to the feminine and to all the mothers in our lives and also to a sense of the Divine Mother that has birthed us all into life.
The music is the Devi prayer literally translated as a hymn to the Divine Mother and the words are a Sanskrit chant in praise to the Divine Mother.
So I invite you to breathe and allow your body to relax.
Notice any tension in the body and allowing it to soften.
Notice any tightness in the face,
In the jaw,
In the shoulders,
In the neck,
In the back,
Down to the legs.
Allow yourself to notice anything you feel throughout the body.
Allow yourself to breathe deeply in and then exhale.
You may outward notice any tension in the mind.
And now take a moment to reflect on your own birth.
Notice that for most of us we did not begin our life in the physical world but we began within the womb of our mother.
And though we did not see her,
Though we did not know her,
She was all around us and was intimately close to us.
That our bodies were held by a feminine before we were birthed into this world,
Before we took our first breath.
Consider that our first experiences of life are with the divine feminine.
That we are held by life through the feminine.
That we hear the sound of our mother's heartbeat.
We hear her voice though we do not see her face.
I invite you to take a moment to thank life for your own time in the womb of your mother.
For the womb that held you and brought bone and organ and tissue to form and shape.
Consider how sacred the space is.
The sacred space that gave you life and that nourished you before you breathe your first breath.
Take a moment to thank the woman who held you in her body.
Whose eyes held yours after your birth.
Notice that regardless of all things that have happened to you,
You have been given a gift.
Life.
Give thanks to the womb that nurtured your life into being.
Namaste.
And consider the gift that you are.
That you allowed your mother to become a mother and to experience motherhood.
Take a moment to give thanks to the mother that gave birth to you and to all those that have mothered you throughout life and all forms of the feminine and the divine feminine that have nurtured you along your journey.
Whether through pleasant experiences,
Unpleasant experiences,
Even painful experiences and joyful experiences,
Say thank you.
They have allowed you to become the person that you are today.
That your experiences in their own way have loved you into being.
Consider now that the world you live in,
The earth that you live on,
Is also a womb that you live within.
That is a mother that holds you and carries you.
That even now you are being held,
You are still being held,
Still being nurtured.
That you are in a womb called life and nurtured by the divine feminine.
Breathe the air that nourishes your body and give thanks to the life that is within you.
Give thanks to the divine feminine that mothers you even to this day.
Imagine sitting in the presence of the divine mother,
The divine feminine spirit that holds all life and ask yourself,
Is there anything that you want to let go of,
Anything that you want to place at her feet that has been weighing you down?
I invite you to let it go and to place it at the feet of the divine mother.
And now,
Is there anything that you want to receive?
Imagine that the divine mother called life wants to give you a gift,
An offering as one word just for you.
Allow yourself to receive that one word,
That one gift and breathe it into your body.
Allow it to fill you.
Allow it to move through you.
Allow yourself to give thanks to that which has loved you into being,
To the womb that birthed you,
To the womb that holds you now,
To the mother that mothered you and to all the mothers who have nurtured you in your life and to the divine feminine that holds you gently in her love.
And when you're ready,
I invite you to return to the room that you're in and gently open your eyes.
Welcome home.
