There is a strong bias in modern society toward ‘doing’. This bias is not present in nature. In nature, there is balance between action and rest. Humankind’s greatest error is the assumption that it is apart from nature. This is not so. Even that bias toward action is part of nature’s grand unfolding pattern. This causes great dissatisfaction. When activity naturally ceases, enjoy. Watch feelings of guilt and anxiety arise like bubbles in hot water. Pop!

There is a strong bias in modern society toward doing.

This bias is not present in nature.

In nature,

There is balance between action and rest.

Mankind's greatest error is the assumption that it is apart from nature.

This is not so.

Even that bias toward action is part of nature's grand unfolding pattern.

This assumption causes great dissatisfaction.

When activity naturally ceases,

Enjoy.

Watch feelings of guilt and anxiety arise like bubbles in hot water.

Pop.

Stare at the sky.

Listen to the wind.

Feel the inside of the body.

Smell the air.

Whatever is to be done is done because of wanting.

The tendency to feel obliged is strong,

Yet even the most tedious of tasks is carried out because it is decided to be the best option.

Surrender will.

Do what must be done.

Then rest.

Wishing that something else were occurring right now only adds more dissatisfaction.

Knowing this,

Be still,

Even in activity.

Stop wishing things were different.

Even in the most strenuous of circumstances,

Rest in the knowing that things could not be any other way right now.

This is all there is.

Observe the space between thoughts and sensations.

Be aware of being aware.

This is the only thing that does not change.

Rest here.

Very to the point. It addresses a truth about how humans believe that they are something not connected to nature. The mantra is action and fight resting. I watch a Robin and he is extremely busy and works tirelessly to build his nest or gather food. However at times he just sits and absorbs the natural world around him. Watch a squirrel or a Chipmunk. They do what must be done but they seem to accept the role of nature around them. Thanks for your words and thoughts.

Wow. Just the wisdom my soul needed today! Thank you for the perspective that completely changed the way this day was headed. Coincidence that the sun came out from behind the clouds as soon as I finished listening to your voice? I don’t think so 🙏🏼😊

A great reminder of the importance of resting and simply BE in a state of presence and awareness.
