Whether it's been a long day or a short one,

Now is the time to rest.

You've chosen to come to bed.

You've chosen to be here.

Now is the time to rest.

Whether sleep comes easily or not,

Whether you sleep heavily or lightly,

Is of no concern.

Now is the time to rest.

Whether or not you did all you wanted today,

However many things you have to do tomorrow,

Now is the time to rest.

Indeed,

Rest is the very best preparation for tomorrow,

With nothing needing to be said or done about sleep.

Now is the time to rest.

So put down the burdens of past and future.

Forget about whether or not the mind is busy.

Now is the time to rest.

Indeed,

Whatever arises,

Whether it is what you call external or internal,

Is only the grand unfolding pattern of nature.

No need to change it.

No need to wish it were different.

Now is the time to rest.

There is a common basis in all experience.

It has been called a precious treasury,

A wish-fulfilling gem.

For it is only by this common basis that all things are known.

It is simple awareness,

Ultimately intimate,

Timelessly present,

And beyond harm.

You can retreat to this sanctuary,

Whenever and wherever you like,

And rest.

Rest naturally,

Without seeking anything,

Say the masters.

Rest imperturbably,

Like a mountain.

Rest in infinite evenness,

They say,

Meaning that everything,

As an emanation of awareness,

Has but one taste.

Whether what is called past,

Present,

Or future,

Whether what is called pleasant or unpleasant,

Whether what is called important or unimportant,

Phenomena are known only by awareness.

To separate objects from awareness is to create an imaginary boundary,

Just the same as a child saying,

This is my patch of grass.

To separate objects from awareness is to create an imaginary boundary,

Just the same as a child saying,

This is my patch of grass.

To separate objects from awareness is to create an imaginary boundary,

Just the same as a child saying,

This is my patch of grass.

Relax into the swirling kaleidoscope of thought and sensation.

Rest in awareness,

Just as it is.

Allow.

Accept.

Rest.

Yelling laughter
