Whether or not you're comfortable right now,

Give yourself full permission to rearrange the body as you please.

And give yourself full permission to be either comfortable or uncomfortable or anywhere in between.

Give yourself full permission to sleep or not sleep.

And okay.

Where there is any anxiety about getting to sleep.

The chances of falling asleep are lesser.

This seems like a double bind.

Until we realize that it's about a change of attitude.

So give yourself full permission to be anxious about getting to sleep or not be anxious about getting to sleep.

Maybe there's some technique that works for you.

We could even call that old favorite of counting sheep a kind of mindfulness practice.

Perhaps deep breaths works for you.

Perhaps counting those breaths works for you.

Perhaps being mindful of the body works for you.

Perhaps reciting mantra works for you.

Or even try singing yourself a lullaby.

Whatever works to relax the mind and body.

Perhaps that.

It may be different from one night to the next.

It may even be different one moment to the next.

Indeed mindfulness practice shows us when we look closely enough that we are different one moment to the next.

So beware of demanding consistency of yourself.

Your sleep need not be the same every night.

Any methods or practices that you use to relax need not be the same every night.

Even you need not be the same every night.

Give yourself full permission to be new in each moment.

Give yourself full permission to be exactly as you are right now.

And right now.

Give yourself full permission to relax.

Right now.

And right now.

And right now.

Give yourself full permission to forget the past and the future.

Right now.

And right now.

And right now.

Give yourself full permission to rest.

Without describing anything.

Without judging anything.

Without seeking anything.

Right now.
