Hey love.
Today I want to tell you a story.
Earlier this year I was invited to a retreat in Egypt and one afternoon I was asked to host a facial release workshop,
A session designed to let go of stored tension in the body.
And among the group was a woman who had been living with fibromyalgia for over 15 years.
If you know fibromyalgia,
You know it's not just pain.
It's your entire nervous system stuck in fight or flight every single day.
Your muscles can't relax,
Sitting hurts,
Lying down hurts,
Being touched hurts.
You can't really move,
You can't work out and every moment is wrapped in tension.
She had tried everything,
But nothing worked.
So she managed the pain with daily medication,
Just to get through.
We began the workshop and slowly we started to put pressure into the fascia,
The connective tissue that holds not only physical tension,
But often emotional memory.
And something happened.
Her fascia started to release.
Not slowly over a month,
But right there,
In the room.
It was as if her body had been craving this release for years,
Maybe decades.
And the moment it was given the chance,
It opened.
She stopped taking her medication that very day.
And now,
4 months later,
She still hasn't needed it.
Because she knows she has a way to help her body release the pain.
After the workshop,
She came to me with tears in her eyes and said,
Dana,
This is the first time in 15 years I feel free in my own body.
And that's when it hit me.
Her healing didn't just begin because we worked on the fascia.
It began because she believed again.
She saw something work after years of disappointment.
And the moment she had hope,
Her body had permission to do what it's always wanted to do.
Heal.
She carried a traumatic childhood in her body.
Emotions she never had the chance to process were locked into her nervous system,
In her fascia.
And that day,
We opened the door.
Healing isn't always instant.
It's not always easy.
And it's not linear.
But it is possible,
Even from the things you've been told are forever.
Even when you've stopped believing it could happen for you.
Your body is not your enemy.
It is your greatest ally.
And when you give it the tools,
The safety,
And the belief,
It will find its way home.
