This meditation is here to guide you to find some self-compassion and invite in more self-love.

It can be difficult at times to find things to love and appreciate about yourself.

With so many images and cultural depictions of how we're meant to be,

Think,

Feel and act,

Many of us have found ourselves comparing,

Criticizing or wishing ourselves to be different than who we are.

So in this moment of time,

Let's find our way back to ourselves,

To find our way back to connecting to our hearts,

Our soul essence and feel what it's like to be in love with ourselves even if just for a moment.

So finding a comfortable seated position,

Sitting gently in a chair or on the floor,

Feet resting flat on the ground,

Connecting you to the earth or if it's more comfortable,

Cross-legged in front of you.

Resting your hands in your lap and closing your eyes.

Releasing your face,

Your eyebrows,

Your jaw,

Letting the eyes roll back towards the back of your head.

Releasing your shoulders down your spine towards the ground.

Connecting your sit bones to the cushion or the floor.

Finding support with the weight of your body being pulled downwards by gravity towards the floor and taking a few moments to get settled wherever you are.

Falling into a rhythmic breathing cycle with easy inhales and easy exhales.

Following the breath as it flows in and out of your body.

Breathing through the nose,

Into the chest and rib cage,

Down into the belly,

Expanding the body,

Gently resting at the bottom and then flowing backwards and upwards out from the belly,

Navel to spine,

Out of the rib cage and up through the throat,

Out through the nose.

Watching the flow of the breath as it moves in and out of the body.

Watching as each breath softens you into your skin just a little bit more.

Starting to explore what it feels like to be in your body.

So taking a deep breath in and exhale.

Deep breath in.

Soften a little bit more.

Feeling what it feels like to feel the breath come into your chest,

Your heart,

Your belly,

Your hips,

Your legs and your feet and into those toes.

Longing it as it flows through your shoulders,

In your arms,

Into your hands and fingers.

Traversing as the breath flows into your neck,

Your face,

Your ears and into your mind.

Allowing any thoughts to flow with the breath out of your body.

Just falling into the rhythm of the in and out.

Simply deepening the breath,

Slowing it down and gently falling deeper and deeper,

Melting further.

This is your breath.

Now taking your awareness to your heart,

The love brain of the body,

The powerful muscle that beats to keep us alive.

Feel into the strength of it as you begin to hear and feel the beat.

Observe the reverberation of it as the beat moves outward from your chest to every part of your body.

Watching as the beat pumps your life force outward into each muscle,

Each bone,

Each nerve,

Each organ,

Each cell.

And with each that beat,

Feeling into the aliveness of this beautiful vessel that you were gifted when you were born.

As you are body,

Your first and most important home.

Taking one or both of your hands and resting them on your chest over your heart.

Taking a few breaths to connect back to that rhythmic beat.

Inhaling deep and exhale.

Inhale for 3,

2,

1 and exhale for 3,

2,

1.

Again,

Inhale 3,

2,

1 and exhale 3,

2,

1.

And your beat like the drum.

With your hands over your heart,

Starting to ask your heart to share with you a single thing that you can celebrate about yourself today.

Perhaps it wants to thank you for simply taking time to connect with it.

Perhaps it wants to share a story or give you a compliment.

Perhaps it wants to invite you to do one small act of self-care later today.

Inviting the message in,

Being open to receive whatever it wants to share.

Listening to the murmur,

Whisper or sweet nothings that your heart wants to share with you.

Exhaling into what it feels like to connect to your heart space.

With each breath expanding into this beautiful connection that you've made.

And if you've received the message,

Thanking your heart for speaking to you.

Simply letting your hands fall back down to your legs and taking a few deep breaths.

Circulating and infusing the love message that you've just received into every microscopic living cell that makes up your body.

Bringing that loving awareness back to your physical body,

This place that you call home.

Taking a deep breath in and exhaling.

Again breath in.

Melting the body down as you exhale.

Last time,

Biggest inhale.

And exhale sigh.

And whenever you feel called,

Bringing a slight tingle to the hands and feet.

Fluttering open your eyes and carrying that love and tenderness with you as you move through the rest of your day.

A beautiful practice that guided me with the images, questions and encouragement I needed to gently ground my breathing and love for myself. I'll definitely come back to this whether I'm practicing from a place of deep darkness or looking to open up my light.
