Curious about creating change in your life?
Immersion is a superpower.
Let's master its use.
When we give ourselves fully,
The probability of taking a quantum leap elevates.
A quantum leap describes an abrupt transition.
In physics,
It usually refers to an electron,
An atom,
Or a molecule leaping from one discrete energy state to another.
Our states of understanding can leap in the same way.
Immersion is the superpower.
Knowing this,
Be careful what you immerse yourself in.
What we give ourselves to can amplify the dark as well as the light.
Let's use our attention wisely.
The litmus test for knowing how best to direct your efforts is simple.
Do the aspects of your life that you give your attention to create a sense of separateness or wholeness?
What does it feel like to immerse ourselves in the news,
Social media,
Or in the stories we tell ourselves within our lives?
More separate or more whole?
The only way to know is usually to try,
So I'd like to share with you one of my favorite immersions and one that is sure to soothe and reconnect.
Let's immerse in nature.
If you haven't done this before,
Don't underestimate its potency.
Are you indoors or outdoors at the moment?
Let's get outside.
Bring your headphones,
Go to a park,
A beach,
Or even your backyard would do.
The more natural,
The better.
Push pause until you've arrived in the natural environment of your choosing.
Let's go.
All right.
Begin to walk.
Choose a pace that lets your body know you're not trying to get anywhere.
A relaxed meander is usually helpful.
This is a silent walk.
As you move,
Feel your body as it glides through space.
Notice your connection to your environment.
Each breath in and each breath out.
Each breath in and each breath out.
Move and commune through your feeling and sensing parts.
Let any part of your day that is still energetically with you be gathered up with your next big breath in and a nice out breath sigh through the mouth.
Maybe doing that a couple of times,
Gathering any thinking,
Any feeling,
Any challenges or obstacles from your day.
Then breathing them out.
Now,
As we walk,
Sometimes it feels that the mind needs to think.
So I'd like you to ask it to name things that it sees.
Use one word titles of your choosing.
For example,
As you walk and you see,
Internally say tree,
Ant,
Or cloud.
And simply walk and continue naming things as if you were God doing it for the first time.
So sense through your skin.
Notice the beautiful way that sensation is transmitted through your entire body,
The outer layers,
The inner layers.
And notice that while you may have a sense of your physical body,
There is also a way of feeling into a sort of energetic body.
It probably feels quite good.
A bit tingly,
A bit warm,
A bit wavy.
Your attention co-creates it.
And as you breathe,
You can feel the energy that's in your body.
A bit wavy,
Your attention co-creates it.
Walk and feel.
Let your eyes penetrate and see more deeply.
With your whole self,
Take in colors,
Texture,
Movement.
And when the mind needs to think,
Ask it to continue giving one-word titles as if it were God.
You can use any language that you like,
Whether known or unknown.
Just one label at a time.
When something you see draws you in,
Give it your full attention.
Slow down,
Interact,
Touch,
Feel,
Connect.
And offer no opinion other than perhaps a one-word title.
