Hi there,
This is Cynthia.
Welcome to this rest and reset meditation for mothers and caregivers.
Find yourself a comfortable place to relax.
You might lie down,
Grab a blanket.
How can you make yourself just a bit more comfortable?
Once you are comfortable,
Close your eyes softly.
Imagine yourself sinking deep into the surface that you are on.
As I sink into this surface,
I am reminded of my softness.
I forget that this side of me exists sometimes.
For all day,
I wear an unbreakable shield to help me push through the demands of my world.
Sometimes,
I like to pretend that some of these demands don't really need me.
They must not all need me,
Right?
Maybe I've even put some of these demands on myself.
But some demands are louder than others,
Harder to quiet or ignore.
But there are others that I can quiet.
I am still practicing my ability to determine which is which.
Pushed and pulled around all day.
From caring for others,
To tasks and to meeting my own needs.
I am so needed everywhere I turn.
At times I long to be needed,
Want to be needed.
Yet at others I long to be alone.
I'm allowed to want both.
You too are allowed to want both.
It's polarizing,
Isn't it?
As most of life is.
Challenging yet beautiful.
Both will always coexist together.
This is your time to go inside.
To meet your softest self.
You are allowed to surrender to the softness within you that is longing to be felt.
As you sink into this surface,
I want to remind you that you are allowed to be soft in a world that tells you to be hard.
Imagining that all of your sharp corners begin to round.
That all of the boxes you've neatly placed yourself in begin to dissolve.
For the you that you are longing to meet is not in a box.
Nor does it have a label or a status.
The you that you are longing to meet is the one you can feel bursting from your chest.
The one inside wanting to be seen and heard.
I want to remind you that you don't have to be anything right here,
Right now.
You can just be nothing.
No one,
Existing in no place,
Existing in no time.
All of the to-do lists and thoughts that you've neatly stored in your mind to remember will still be there.
But for now,
We'll place them on our bedside table.
What a relief that is.
You already feel lighter,
Freer.
Your body melts deeper and deeper,
Releasing each and every one of the muscles in your face,
Softening your forehead and the space between your brow,
Softening your jaw.
Release it gently,
And then release it again.
Here your softness is applauded,
Admired.
Your softness,
Your ability to rest is seen as healing and productive,
But not productive in its most recognized form.
If productivity is getting you closer towards something,
Let it be your healing.
Let it be your peace.
Softness allows you to be the most present you,
The you that you are proud of.
The you that exists before anyone else came along and interfered.
See if you can connect to what's inside of you.
The you that you are inside before your environment had anything to do with it.
The you that you are when no one is looking.
The you that sighs at the end of the day once you've removed those external layers and faces that you've been wearing all day.
Tuning into your body now,
Imagining yourself zooming all the way in,
Feeling your fingers and the energy that collects at the tips.
Connecting to your heart,
Feeling your heart beat softly,
Noticing your legs,
They get heavier and heavier,
Like rocks.
Feeling each and every one of your toes begin to relax too.
A soft,
White,
Peaceful light surrounds your body now.
Feel it surround every inch of your skin,
Resting here,
Softening just a little bit more here.
