Hi,

I'm Cheryl.

Thanks for joining me today.

If you are a mom like me,

You know that motherhood can be the most wonderful and one of the most challenging jobs on earth.

Our children's successes and their heartbreaks affect us deeply.

As moms,

We often put everyone else's needs before our own.

So this meditation is designed especially for you.

It's a much-deserved mini-retreat for moms.

A way to reconnect to yourself,

To find a bit of calm in the midst of all the craziness of motherhood.

This meditation can be done seated,

Lying down,

Or lying down with your feet and legs resting upwards on a wall.

This is a wonderful restorative position to relax your body and your mind.

So pick a position and find one that's comfortable for you.

Now close your eyes.

Take a moment to notice how your body feels right now.

Scan your body from head to toe.

Notice if there are any places where you're holding on to tightness or tension.

Take a nice deep breath.

On your inhale,

Create a sense of space or openness in your body.

And on your exhale,

Let go of any tension and allow your body to soften.

If you're seated,

Sit up nice and tall.

If you're lying down,

Stretch your arms out.

If you're seated,

Sit up nice and tall.

If you're lying down,

Stretch your feet away from your hips and your head in the opposite direction.

Create a feeling of spaciousness in your back and spine.

Now gently bring your shoulders back and place your hands out to the side,

Palms up or facing forward.

Gently relax your shoulders and feel this chest opening posture.

It's a wonderful way to open your heart.

Take a nice deep breath in through your nose and open your mouth and exhale with a nice and repeat that one more time,

Taking a nice inhale through your nose and exhale with a sigh.

Just take a moment again to notice how you feel,

Feeling your body against the earth connecting to the ground beneath you.

Now think of your child and place your child in your attention.

Notice the love that you feel for your child and allow your heart to fill with that love and to fill with all the well wishes you have for your child.

Now,

If you're sitting down,

Sit up nice and tall.

If you're sitting down,

You're feeling a lot of love for your child.

Next,

Turn your attention inward to yourself and send yourself that same unconditional love.

Think of all that you do each day and thank yourself for all that you do.

Send yourself some well-deserved appreciation for your hard work.

Let go of any thoughts of not being good enough or not doing enough.

Being a mother is one of the hardest and the most important jobs on this earth and you are doing it so well.

There's no one right way to do it,

So let go of any worries or guilt or judgment.

Be proud for all that you do and for all the love that you share with others.

Remember how important you are.

Remember how beautiful and strong you are.

Take another deep inhale.

Fill your whole body with air and with love.

And as you exhale,

Soften your whole body and gently release.

And as you exhale,

Soften your whole body and gently sink into the earth beneath you.

As we close this meditation,

Remember to take good care of yourself today and every day.

Thank you for joining me today.

I am sending you all of my love and well wishes.

Until next time,

Take care.

I have no human child - I'm a pet mom - and still this meditation aided me in unpacking some of the guilt I've been feeling since my floof suffered an injury yesterday. All this to say thank you.

This was lovely. The sound quality could have been better though and the first minute or too were too chatty for my liking. Still, a very nice mini-retreat! Thank you.
