When you are guided to this pathway of the heart,

Take a moment to breathe and begin what you are about to do wholeheartedly.

When we practice meditation,

The heart should have a greater role than the head.

Many people practice meditation to quiet the mind,

But ultimately what quiets the mind is an awakened heart.

The heart referred to is not just the physical organ,

But is rather a certain sensitivity within each of us that can be enhanced through the practice of heart meditation.

Directing emotion and energy in conjunction with our breath is the way to awaken the heart.

Heart rhythm meditation practices will create sensitivity and awareness in your heart.

The heart we refer to in meditation can be called the metaphorical heart,

The poetic heart,

The emotional energetic heart,

And or the spiritual heart.

Begin by remembering the sound and feeling of the one being towards the one being,

The wellspring of love.

Once you are seated,

Close your eyes and turn your attention inward for a few moments and tune into your breathing.

Create a pleasant rhythmic breathing pattern,

One that is like a small ocean wave.

Notice yourself slowing and deepening your breath.

Feel the rhythm of your heartbeat or pulse if you can.

Feel the ground on which you are sitting or resting.

Here is a quote from Rumi.

I looked for myself,

But myself was gone.

The boundaries of my being had disappeared in the sea.

Waves broke,

Awareness rose again,

And a voice returned me to myself.

It always happens like this.

Sea turns on itself and foams,

And with every foaming bit,

Another body,

Another being takes form.

And when the sea sends word,

Each foaming body melts back to ocean breath.

End quote from Rumi.

What we call feeling is really the waves on the surface of the sea.

In the depth of the sea,

True feeling awaits.

Perhaps life is calling you right now to let go into unity,

To release for a moment everything you think you know about yourself.

As you begin to mind the gems you find on the pathways of the heart,

Remember to return repeatedly to the feeling of bathing in unity's ocean.

We can explore the divine wealth within us for our whole lives and still not exhaust the treasure hidden there.

Now with one hand lightly on your heart,

Breathe easily and gently.

Feel the awareness of breath and heartbeat creating a clear,

Spacious place inside.

We are connecting our heart to the heart of the cosmos.

Heart rhythm meditation attunes us to the rhythm of our pulse.

It is common for the mind to move at a rhythm that is much faster than the pulse.

Placing our attention on the heartbeat has the effect of slowing our minds and making us aware that we have an inner palpable clock that we can train ourselves to glance at from time to time.

By aligning a feeling with our heartbeat,

We begin to learn that we can create and direct what we experience.
