As I observe the world around me, I'm struck by how rarely people give themselves time to simply be, without distraction or agenda. We fill every moment with activity, noise, or mental chatter, afraid to confront the emptiness that lies beneath. But what happens when we allow ourselves to inhabit the empty spaces with intention? What unfolds when we learn to stay with the open void of no-thing-ness, without reaching for our phones or our thoughts? This lesson embraces cultivating spaciousness and inviting oneself to stay in it peacefully. Through mindful movement, we'll explore how to inhabit the space between thoughts, cultivate presence, and tap into a deeper sense of awareness. Let's transform the empty space from a place of discomfort to one of pleasure and growth.

Hello,

I'm Kuchira and welcome to your movement class called Intentional Spaciousness.

Go ahead and take a seat as I talk us through this intro so we understand a little bit more what the motivation is in today's class.

As I observe the world around me,

I'm struck by how rarely people give themselves time to simply be without distraction or agenda.

We fill every moment up with activity,

Noise,

And mental chatter,

Afraid to confront the emptiness that lies beneath.

But what happens when we allow ourselves to inhabit that empty space?

What unfolds when we learn to stay with stillness without reaching for our phones or for our thoughts?

For those who have cultivated the ability to dwell in this spaciousness,

I've noticed that it becomes increasingly expansive.

The space between thoughts widen,

And we're left with more time to cultivate presence and awareness.

This can be a potent catalyst for growth,

Reflection,

And insight.

However,

Many of us struggle to simply be in this spaciousness.

We're conditioned to value productivity and busyness,

And the silence can feel unfamiliar,

Even uncomfortable.

We may associate it with negative emotions or struggle with the self-reflection it invites.

Yet,

In reality,

These empty spaces can be precisely where we connect with ourselves and the world around us in profound ways.

By embracing the stillness,

We can tap into a deeper sense of awareness and understanding.

So let's use today's practice to cultivate a greater comfort with this spaciousness.

Through mindful movement and intentional stillness,

We can learn to inhabit the silence with ease,

Allowing ourselves to be present in the moment,

Without distraction or agenda.

The spaciousness then becomes a place of pleasure instead of a place of pain or discomfort.

Ready to move through the stillness?

Oh,

The duality of that statement.

That's so true.

Let's go.

So let's begin.

And I'll remind you that the movement practice is an innate one.

It's our first language,

The language of movement,

Vocalization,

And breath.

And so however that chooses to move through my invitations,

That is what you're going to welcome in.

The non-verbal language,

The one where the body is forward and the thoughts are back and the innate wisdom can speak through you.

And so go ahead and enter your space.

What does that mean?

Enter your space.

As we explore the uncharted territories of our inner and outer worlds,

Let's start by tuning into the physical space that surrounds us.

Notice the environment you're in,

The walls.

If you're outside,

Maybe it's the natural world.

If you're in the city,

Maybe it's the urban landscape.

Allow yourself to settle into the space,

Becoming aware of your physical presence within it.

Take a moment to observe how your body naturally responds to the space.

Notice any sensations,

Feelings,

Or thoughts that arise.

Allow yourself to simply be present in the moment without judgment or expectation.

Feel free to let the body naturally flow within the space's energy.

Maybe it's a little wiggle,

Maybe it's a walk around,

Maybe it's just sitting and feeling the vibrations on your skin,

Moving with the trees or leaning against the walls or rolling on the grass.

However the body wants to integrate itself into the space,

Let that be available.

Entering the space.

By tuning into the physical space,

We can begin to cultivate a deeper sense of awareness and connection to our surroundings.

I think sometimes we're so focused on our thoughts that we forget that we are in and of the world.

This can be a powerful starting point for exploring the more subtle and intangible aspects of our experience.

So take a moment to allow yourself to enter your space,

Your way.

And trust yourself,

Trust your instincts.

The harmony of the breath,

Body,

And surroundings.

Now notice how your life force energy,

Your breath,

Resonates within the space of your body and its surroundings.

Observe how these three elements,

Breath,

Body,

And environment,

Interact and influence one another.

Notice any areas of harmony or discord,

Connection or resistance.

Rather than trying to control or fix anything,

Simply allow yourself to witness the dynamic interplay between these energies.

Trust that as you cultivate awareness of your breath,

Body,

And surroundings,

They'll naturally begin to harmonize and fall into place.

So this is definitely an exercise of awareness and trust.

Think of these elements as an orchestra,

Each playing its own unique role in creating a beautiful symphony.

When allowed to flow in their true nature,

They can create a profound sense of balance and harmony.

By acknowledging and respecting this natural harmony,

You can tap into a deeper sense of well-being and connection to yourself and the world around you.

So play with this flow for a moment.

And I invite you to take a moment to get out of your way and let it harmonize through you.

The Unseen Harmony Notice how your inner orchestra resonates with the unseen forces that surround you.

Feel how your energy vibrates beyond imaginary boundaries that once confined you.

This expansive energy allows you to transcend limitations and explore new realms of possibility.

Somatically,

You can cultivate the sense of expansiveness by releasing the tension in your body that grips and tries to control.

Take a moment to notice that.

Now imagine a gentle,

Expansive energy radiating from your body,

Creating a sense of spaciousness around you.

Notice how this feels in your physical body.

The sensations,

The relaxation,

The sense of freedom,

Possibility,

And play.

As you surrender into this expansive energy,

Allow your breath to deepen,

Your body to soften,

And your thoughts to release.

Enjoy being with your beingness,

However that arises.

And again,

The most challenging thing here will be to let go of expectation or ideas.

Just be,

And all will perfectly unfold.

As your body moves,

Expresses,

Emotes,

Asks,

And gives,

Just be available and open with your vessel.

Let it play.

Embarking on our inner expedition.

Now that we've cultivated a sense of spaciousness,

Let's explore the depths of our experience.

Become the explorer of your inner world.

Use your emotions,

Feelings,

Sensations,

Body,

Sound,

Movement,

Breath,

Presence,

And awareness to guide you.

Ah,

So many good things!

And navigate the inner landscape with curiosity and openness.

Observing and documenting your discoveries without judgment.

Remember,

Be flexible and adaptable,

Embracing whatever arises with bravery and wonder.

As you explore,

Notice how your body responds to different sensations and emotions.

Allow yourself to move and express in ways that feel authentic and natural.

Really important,

Allow yourself to move and express yourself in a way that feels authentic and natural.

Use your breath to anchor yourself in the present moment,

And let your awareness guide you deeper into your inner world.

This is all about trust.

Trust that if you are curious,

And you wonder,

And you're open,

That it will take you to the places that ask you to be there.

What new adventures will you discover within the intentional spaces you've created?

What hidden treasures will you uncover?

The journey is yours to explore.

Embark on your inner expedition.

We've arrived at cultivating presence.

Gently bring your attention to the present moment.

Allow yourself to ground,

Soften,

Silence,

And still.

Let quietness unfold naturally,

And without forcing or rushing,

Enjoy the process.

Patience is essential here,

As you permit yourself to settle into the simplicity of the now.

As you breathe,

Feel your body relax and your mind calm.

Let go of distractions,

And gently come back to the present.

In this peaceful state,

Allow yourself to simply be,

Without agenda or expectation,

Cultivating presence.

As we settle into the final meditation,

We embrace the spaciousness,

Allowing the space within us to expand.

Imagine a light glowing in the center of you,

Wherever you imagine that being,

And let those light rays span out past the center point,

As far as it can go.

Yeah,

Notice how thoughts begin to drift apart,

Either fading away or moving further and further away from you,

With the light rays.

Fully inhabit the space between the thoughts,

Letting go of the need to constantly think or analyze or know or force or fix.

When the space between the thoughts widens,

Creating more time,

More time in silence,

More time in this quiet,

Still movement,

More time in this beingness,

Allow yourself to rest.

Rest,

As the light glows and expands and glows and expands.

And if it's just brief moments of spaciousness,

Work with those openings.

They're very valuable.

They're seeds that have been planted.

Every open door,

No matter how big or small,

Is an opportunity for growth.

And that we celebrate.

Cultivating a sense of openness,

Allowing ourselves to be present in the moment,

We breathe in and we feel the light expand.

And as we breathe out,

We let go of any tension or resistance,

Releasing those rays into the world.

We breathe in,

Allowing the light to glow and expand.

We exhale,

Releasing,

Allowing us to simply be.

As we prepare to transition back,

Gently returning to the physical reality,

Choose a focal point to anchor your attention.

This could be your breath or a gentle mantra or a physical sensation in your body.

Perhaps a comforting touch,

Placing your hand on your chest or on your belly.

Allowing this focal point to guide you back to the present moment.

Take your time.

Notice how your nervous system responds to this gentle transition.

Allowing yourself to integrate the experiences and insights you've gained,

Feeling more grounded and centered as you slowly return back to the physical body.

The spacious mind and open body are potent catalysts for self-discovery,

Inner peace,

And mindful living.

By embracing this sense of expansiveness,

You can become more present,

Aware,

And intentional in your thoughts,

Actions,

And interactions with the world.

I encourage you to revisit this lesson often,

Allowing the spaciousness to expand and deepen within you.

As you practice,

May the boundaries between here and there,

Self and other,

Begin to dissolve,

Revealing the interconnectedness of all things.

And may you embody peace,

Clarity,

And unity that arises from this profound sense of spaciousness.
