Welcome to part one,

An introduction to the chakra system by Christy Smerl.

Higher levels of health and wellness can be obtained when we realize that we are so much more than just a brain and a physical biochemical body.

For thousands of years,

Ancient scholars and physicians from civilizations across the globe knew about the subtle energy systems and that they have an integral part of our existence in health.

Prana or chi is the life force that sustains our subtle body.

This prana is derived from the quality of food and water we consume,

The quality and quantity of air we breathe,

And in addition,

Prana is received through channels in the body called nadis.

There are 72,

000 nadis which coalesce prana into a central sushumna channel and chakra system.

Chakras are energy vortexes that transfer,

Process and store pranic life energy.

In this introduction,

I will be discussing the main seven chakras and how they affect our lives and well-being.

The word chakra means wheel or vortex in Sanskrit.

Pranic energy flows through these vortices.

Each of the main seven chakras support specific body functions,

Organ systems,

Nerve plexus,

Endocrine systems and emotions.

The vibrancy and activity levels of each chakra can be hypoactive and constricted or hyperactive due to situations such as physical trauma,

Illness,

Emotional stress or toxins.

Keeping the chakras activated and unconstricted is key to optimal health and ascension of kundalini energy.

This meditation uses guided imagery,

Self-healing,

Affirmations and healing frequencies with crystal toning bowls to help activate and balance the chakra system.

The first of seven chakras is the muladhara chakra located at the base of the spine.

Chakra means root and is related to survival,

Instinct and safety.

When activated and balanced,

The muladhara chakra supports abundant health,

Energy,

Satisfaction with life and feeling grounded,

Safe and secure.

This chakra supports and provides prana to the colon,

Adrenal glands,

The low lumbar spine,

Pelvis,

Hips,

Legs and feet.

The swadhisthana chakra is located above the pubis bone,

Below the navel or your belly button.

The swadhisthana chakra in Sanskrit means sweetness and is related to creativity,

Sensuality,

Passion and self-nurturing.

When activated and balanced,

The swadhisthana chakra supports our sense of self-boundaries,

Self-expression,

Creativity and our social skills.

This chakra supports and provides prana to the low abdomen,

Urinary system,

Reproductive organs and the mid-low back.

Moving just above the navel,

We locate the manipura chakra.

Manipura in Sanskrit means lustrous gem and it's related to self-discipline,

Confidence and exuberant warm personality.

When activated and balanced,

The manipura chakra supports our sense of responsibility,

Humor and the ability to achieve.

This chakra supports and provides prana to the stomach,

Liver,

Pancreas and mid-spine.

The anahata chakra is the heart chakra.

In Sanskrit,

Anahata means unstruck.

It's related to love,

Compassion,

Nurturing and healing.

When activated and balanced,

The anahata chakra supports our ability to love ourselves and others unconditionally.

It supports our ability to be empathic and show compassion as well as radiate inner peace.

This chakra supports and provides prana to the physical chest,

Thoracic spine,

Shoulders,

Arms,

Hands,

Lungs,

Fineness,

Heart and circulatory system.

The vishuddha chakra is the throat center.

In Sanskrit,

Vishuddha means purification and is related to the ability to communicate and express oneself.

When activated and balanced,

The vishuddha chakra supports communication skills and the ability to be truthful.

This chakra supports prana and the physical existence of the neck,

Throat,

Esophagus,

Jaw,

Tongue and thyroid gland.

The anjana chakra is located at the third eye.

In Sanskrit,

Anjana means to perceive and is related to wisdom,

Insight and psychic abilities.

When activated and balanced,

The anjana chakra supports imagination,

Optimism,

Wisdom and the sixth essence.

This chakra supports the eyes,

Ears,

Face,

Brain and smaller structures in the brain like the hypothalamus and the pituitary gland.

The sahasara chakra is at the crown of the head.

In Sanskrit,

Sahasara means one thousand fold and it's related to the higher planes of consciousness.

When activated and balanced,

The sahasara chakra supports our sense of spirituality,

Faith and connection to the divine.

This chakra supports prana to the pineal gland and entire nervous system.

All the chakras interact and support each other when activated and healthy.

To enhance chakra radiance,

Eat a balanced,

Clean,

Rich diet.

Drink clean,

Pure water which is fluoride free.

Keep the body fit with yoga asanas and exercise.

Practice your breathing techniques,

Also known as pranayama.

Avoid toxins and minimize stress.

Ideally,

Perform the chakra activation meditation regularly.

As a disclaimer,

Please never meditate while driving or operating dangerous equipment and discontinue this meditation if discomfort ever arises.
